Patch Notes Update Beta Update 1.03 Now Available

Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew the file size of these updates as I only have limited internet per month. Cheers.
 
Hi everyone,

Beta Update 1.03 is currently being prepared for release and should be available for download within the next 30 minutes. Here is the change log for this update:

- Fix some collect missions that are trying to talk about destinations - they now talk about the start locations like they should
- More guards against the ship not having a frame shift drive (which should be possible).
- Speculative fix for CTD on an open space scenario
- Handle more vertex buffers returning null
- Further crash guards for launch bay component
- Correct check before accessing details about the current target location. Would cash if the location you were targetting goes away
- Fix broken pointer in mission progression
- Fix for softlock on missions that involved talking to stations, not showing "objective complete" when you kill lots of people
- Send check codes for bounty and voucher requests
- Reduce server maximum packet size from 1500 to 1400 bytes as temp workaround for Mission BBS problems
- Log the response to the friends info request into the network log file, if VerboseLogging is 1 or more, to help track down failing to find friends online
- Distance contract calculation now take into account the cargo that they're about to give to you
- Send telemetry on player's match-making choice
- Avoid menu stickage when in time zones behind UTC
- Fix null crash in AI pilot receive authority change
- Mission details panel can now have multiline detail row labels (as well as detail row details)
- The focus bubble now eases between its min and max based on the current dolly value. This should allow for a softer selection of stars to view and less background/foreground clutter
- Moved the confirm (pad X) and auto (pad Y) bindings into the ui controls so they don't conflict with the galaxy maps crane (pad X) and home (pad Y) inputs
- Tweak of the system connections to differentiate the independent jumps from those that depend on your current cargo mass
- Add police tags to response craft, so that they can be killed and count as police kills in the missions system
- Fix a bug causing many duplicate sets of supercruise lines being drawn - it wasn't limiting the rendering to local players ship only
- When flying v fast in Supercruise, don't call UpdateIsland more often than once every 5 seconds (don't bother at all in Solo mode) - reduces load on server
- Reduce time server spends on clean up
- Fixed the Federal Staging Area in i Bootis, it's location was wrong. It's still a bit hard to find, but it should be in a much nicer place
- Filtering the top 5 trades is now done dynamically rather than being baked into the data
- Fixed outfitting menu showing base price rather than the server provided buyPrice
- Actually cache the value use to govern variable consumption rate of data when trying to smooth over multiple frames

Anyone else had problems with their shields since the update? Mine go off line every time I deploy weapons - not helpful! also whilst inside the hanger I purchased the docking computer (only to listen to the Blue Danube of course!) and shields went off line again. its going to make defending myself very creative.....

You're running out of power as you have too much energy strain for your ship.

hmmm, anyone else having trouble with navigating the Galaxy Map since the update? The keys I had for camera panning don't work, and when I reassign them (WSAD) it takes them off my flight controls.

I also can't bind a mouse axis to the galaxy map controls, it doesn't seem to pick it up from the menu option.

Hi Michael. Many thanks for reply, the shields went off line instantly whilst inside the hanger and of course the ship is 'off lined' when you land.

been playing since alpha and this happened immediately after the latest update.

the game looking amazing otherwise :smilie:

Very impressive the speed you release these updates. Thanks a lot

I can't remember for sure how it was, but coming out of supercruise looks a lot more real now the background stays the same. (I thought this wasn't so in earlier releases)

May I ask if you are working on the transition time? sometimes it takes more than 30 seconds to get out of supercruise.

Hope they are still working on the big lags into Hyperdrive and coming out of Supercruise.

They had them fixed in PB and now they are back, longest lag coming out of SC so far 45 seconds and going into HD 10 Seconds, totally ruins the immersion, my first Hyperdrive jump I thought they had screwed up the special effects for the jump and then it actually started the jump properly.

Still need Geographical Localisation Matching I reckon for P2P networking.


Still exceptionally slow download from the update servers as well.

Have to say it's what you guys are doing and how fast your doing it what makes your game stand out from the normal rabble of companies and why we also have a mature community here.

Thanks so much ED staff even your customer service which you don't have on the phones is amazing no names mentioned as don't want you to get tons of calls too. Keep up this amazing work guys/gals :cool:
 
I'm having some issues with the Type-6's landing pads.
I think it was already with 1.02 that, when you go with the Type-6 into the hangar you get so much noise that you think you've been put into an engine, but to make that worse does that noise stick to your pad so even if you move up again the noise follows.

No idea if I'm the only one that has that issue but I hope it's either gonna be fixed soon or doesn't also happen for the Type-9 and the Anaconda.
Not gonna keep the Type-6 that long gladly, it's just a step on my way to the Ana.
