News Beyond - Chapter Three Launch Announcement

Looks awesome, can't wait to see those new Guardian beacon structures, they look terrific. Also really excited to hear what the new Guardian SLF's sound like (the audio team have never let us down so far).

Paul - quick question - am I right in thinking that the Q3 update will also include the new community created holo adverts?

The core improvements are lagging behind as usual.

I mean, granted, Q2 and Q3 are labelled as content updates and as such, delivered. However, the current state simply doesn't allow for the skipping of optimisations and improvements at any given time, let alone devalueing it. It must be the top priority as a scary number of players start to complain about long existing issues and developement decisions. Our hacking friend having a ban of *a single day* awakened many players to think twice about the optimism and support for ED and FDev as a whole, showing off in gradually decreasing player numbers but also sudden player drops that are brought back for a short period of time (as to be expected) after each update. After all, the player numbers are decreasing and with upcoming competition and NMS imrpoving its reputation, Elite has to do the same in, say, a year, which is a reasonable amount of time but may not wait until Star Citizen is released, which will highly compete with ED regardless if Roberts and Braben are friends or not.

Looks good to me! Can't wait to investigate new Guardian stuff (and discover new Guardian sites, apparently). These are gonna be five long days.

Can you reveal the Crusader's module classes at this time? I'd like to know how much of my Chieftain's modules i'll be keeping - there's no way i'm skipping on a Chieftain with Guardian fighters :D

Fighter bay is quite a significant model change though. My Chieftain's on the Gnosis but I'd be very tempted otherwise. I like that CG meets Engineers idea though.

Depending on the answer to my question above, you may very well have the time to get it, quickly swap modules, add the fighter hangar, and come back to the Gnosis before the big jump on Sep. 6th ;)

Honestly I'm a bit sad, because I really waited Krait Phantom. Any others sounds good, but why no Krait Phantom? :(

I wouldn't scratch it out just yet. During their presentation at Gamescom there was a "no phone allowed" moment and many are speculating that it was about the Krait Phantom (and that it will be a Guardian hybrid).

It's worth pointing out the Turret Plasma Charges are turrets only in the sense of they can be used in Multi Crew the don't work like normal turret weapons in terms of auto tracking and firing.

Any improvements are very welcome, but the last thing that I need is yet more weapons. I dont think the game was sold as a space combat simulator.

English please?

So EXACTLY as predicted, yet another re-hashed pointless lazy development ship, A new fighter for fighting if your in to fighting and combat, Guardian settlements just another re-hash of the thargoid settlements and more endless grind for materials, i'd sooner they had kept the chapter back to fix what already needs fixing.

Oh and did we here about the engineers in colonia well that will take endless game play just to get there.

Devs we have no idea in which direction the game is going, but please understand it's not going well, stop rehashing ships, stop the endless grind, stop the rinse repeat system And please fix, content , mechanics and current in game systems, you only have Q4 where I don't think your going to deliver except more grind, and it will be bye bye forever, Sit down look at what players are saying just look at the twitter feeds 95% are complaining about what they require the game to be....

This is the Elite Dangerous Launch trailer. It consists of nothing but a dude starting his ship, followed by almost two minutes of shooting. If anything the game has been marketed as being more about combat than it is in-game. Here's a fun drinking game: watch ALL elite trailers for all patches, and have a shot everytime there is a space battle. Every time there is a launcher without combat you get to take a leak. Enjoy!

Engineers in Colonia!

The Engineers have arrived in Colonia! The engineers will be found at planet bases across the Colonia region and will only be available to players who have purchased the Horizons expansion and have done some engineering previously.

The new Engineers will only make contact with Commanders who have interacted with Felicity Farseer, Elvira Martuuk, The Dweller, Liz Ryder and Tod “The Blaster” Mcquinn. As with all existing Engineers, the new additions will all have to be unlocked before they make their services available.

Given that Colonia is a human colony on the fringe of space, not all technology will be available at first. Commanders out in fringe will need to work together with the Engineers to expand the available tech. That means the more a recipe is used the sooner will the improved version be made available.

Each Engineer will start as level 1 and as usual you will need to complete a request to unlock the engineer before you can upgrade any modules. The community can work together to raise the level of these engineers from 1 to 3! The current grade of the Engineers will be show on a local news article.

Finally! Thanks for hard work FD. Can't wait 28th :)

you play stuff most that you like the most!

and why is everybody obsessed with competition between different games houses, if you like it play it if not don't play it.

I have many games of the same or similar genre and each and every one of them gets played, it will be the same if Star Citizen turns out good... but that doesn't mean I'll start a hate letter to Frontier Developments.

It was not for sure, but it seems the current team only knows do this.

The current team has been working on mining and exploration for the big update they told you about a year ago, and gave a presentation about just two months or so ago. You know this, everyone who reads this knows this, so why not put a little bit more effort in your whining?

Why put a restriction on Colonia engineering that you have to have done engineering in the bubble with these 5 specific engineers first? A lot of explorers may not have ever dealt with Blaster, or even Liz: Blaster purely does weapons.

I don’t get this decision at all - please explain the logic behind it.
