No No No. Open is not your PVP play thing where everyone is there for you to kill and if they dont like it then they should go solo.

Open is for all Elite Dangerous CMDRs not just the spicy few.

Your mentality is why I am fine with CMDRs blocking the lot of you... you dont add to Open... you dont encourage players into Open.... You are not good for Open.

I appreciate and am grateful for your respect, dear sir Cobra III lover, but I must add that in no way I want ED turned into EvE. There are, though, a few nice aspects from that game.

Anyway, wanting Open to be Open, what's the problem? You're roaming in an Explorer Annie, some guy appears and wants to explode you.
1. Why is that condemnable? He's in Open just like you. Why "hurr durr report wrong way of play"?
2. I'm sure If you're in an Annie, you understand a bit about the game. Submit, align, boost boost boost, high wake?
3. Why didn't you check your Contacts tab in the first place, when the "1 new contact" appeared on screen?
4. Why can these players Block you from Open and put you in a Condemnables list so that a huge chunk of Open dwellers can't be found by him anymore?

I do appreciate your thoughts too. Many people came to ED in order to not find EvE scrubs here. But then, does everybody have to love and peace through the game this way? Penalizing the bad guys not with in-game mechanics, but with metagame?

Nail on the head, although regardless of how many times this has been said... There is a small overly vocal element that somehow believe this game will become 'EVE with cockpits' despite there being no evidence that is a even a faint possibility.

Still the Forum meta will always attract those who wish to dream... EVE4evah forum Join Date 30/06/2017 does fit with the Forum meta, and its Friday so meh...

Maybe also brush up on your Boelcke rather than Musashi, the former is slightly more relevant unless space legs is a thing.

Quite probably, but as a kenjutsu teacher I'm much more familiar with Musashi, and with the writing of Yagyu Munenori. The philosophy and mindset involved is quite relevant although yes, Boelcke would be more directly relevant to the mechanics of ED combat. My own experience wearing a primary-colored suit to work was in RN blue so neither air nor land tactics were required reading.

What does the attacker, in your quoted scenario, gain as in-game rewards for just exploding an... anything? Nothing. Assuming the guy was clean, your scenario doesn't mention a wanted explorer, there was no motivation beside the pop. Your only answer can be: "The rules don't prohibit it". That right there is just as much of an 'out of game' action as Blocking is.

I block you each and every time I log on. Have you noticed?

He can either go solo which makes Open less enjoyable for all including himself or he could just block the guy who killed him several times and then carry on in Open making new friends.

Being blocked is only a penalty if your ability to enjoy the game hinges on being able to access players who don't want to play with you. Surely nobody is that dependent on being able to shoot down non-combat ships to feel big.

I've personally been mocked when someone replied to my comment mocking the mentality of 'Ace Combat' players, of which my emblem is from.

The few PvPers that I decided to blow out of the sky were spouting all kinds of insulting expletives before I ended them. And even though I won those fights, I blocked and reported the lot for griefing. Or in my case... A lame attempt at griefing.

Ive never even attempted pvp in this game...thats not why I came here but I sure as hell dont have anything against the pvp aspect. I would enjoy the whole role play piracy thing they talk about here if I was in that situation...I do actually role play a little now and then but thats not the point. Im in open right now and grinding through missions and passengers just like unknown number of other players...I dont see any but then again, its colonia so...

Ok thats unfair, theres a few around now and then and its cool just seeing someone say hi or o7 fer a change and not thinking yer going to rebuy again. Besides which Im not actually exploring atm and can afford a few losses on the odd occasion some head hunter makes the trip out from ganktown. Just seeing other players again is worth it...Ive been in solo a long time ^
