Blocking feature being abused or was it intended to be this way? FDEV?

Quoted just to ask...

Do Delta use any identifying insignia/tags on their ships?

I don't really get deliberately involved in co-op play but, on the off-chance that I happen across some of your guys while in combat, I'd like to ensure I join in on the correct side. [up]

Feel free to send me a friends request, it helps with instancing:)

Nah, it just makes abusing the current system easier.

I disagree.

Any kind of "proforma" block-list creates the potential for shenanigans; Imperial player-groups trying to get Fed' group members put on ban lists, and vice-versa.
Last thing this game needs is the dev's introducing new things which are bound to be exploited.

Far better to just keep things simple and just block those you actually SEE acting like a tool.

It's a pitty that so much studying didn't teach you to not judge people by in-game actions.

Sorry but you're terribly naïve if you expect people NOT to judge others by their in-game actions. And why shouldn't that be the case? Why is it so different from judging someone by what I see them do in the street or in a pub or at a restaurant or movie? Sorry but if the only indication of a person's character IS what I see them do in-game, or for that matter what they themselves admit to doing in-game by posting things like youtube videos, then I will very much judge them by that. If I see someone act like a jerk, then I'm going to assess them as being a jerk, whether that be in person or in-game....at least until I observe evidence of behaviour to the contrary. And if the person I judge doesn't like that, well tough....if one doesn't want to be judged a jerk then don't act like one. Simple really.

You could always take a leaf from the PVP types book and run an off-forum "log&block" list similar to their clogger KOS. Pop all the station rammers, cheats, griefers, noobsplatters and the like onto it, require some simple proof like a forum post admitting whichever type of behavior it is. Include what the individual did so players can tailor their block-list themselves, for example people who enjoy legit PVP could exclude noobsplatters and station rammers. And everyone legit could block the cheats.

All we need now is the ability to search and block by player name from the menu.

One step too far. I cant wait to see how Karma will change things up. I'm looking forward to some proper PVP in anarchy systems!

Lets make Open great again!

It seems unnecessary to have a block function in open when people have the very obvious choice of private or solo.

Just another feature on the road to the destination "Elite: Snowflake."

1. Yea the karma system when we see it will be neat if implemented well, spoiler: I won't. also combat logging is not something that should be punished in-game, its cheating and requires support to deal with it.

If combat logging is = to use the ingame timer to exit the game, which is not Combat Logging according to FDEV...

How is that combat logging? And how do you prove it?

No, I don't... honestly I could be 2 years or even 5. Depends how Star Citizen does I guess.

Do you even have your eyes open?

The eventual release of SC, will impact Elite very little.... you know why?

SC will not be released to XBOX nor PS4.... and even then, me and a whole bunch of people I know will not stop playing Elite because of it....

Open your eyes.

There is another active thread discussing exactly this. We all have different opinions on what is an exploit & what isn't, only FDev's opinion is important.

It is not that hard to understand that if a player quits the game to avoid dealing with the consequences of their in-game actions, the players left behind with think that's pretty weak. It's not necessary to agree with the opinion to understand it.

+rep for Sun Tzu, I suspect that many of these whingers would do well to read both Art of War and Miyamoto Musashi's Go Rin No Sho.

Except most of them would not understand it. Not only does it require a good deal of introspection but the language is not 'modern' and liberally laced with f-bombs and, 'you know' and 'I was like'.

Pity really.

The difference is that if you go into Solo you meet no-one. If you play in PG then you have to at least know someone to start with. In open you can meet everyone playing there even though some of them may well be blocked from instancing with you.

Im curious now if this is what happened the other night at the CG , i interdicted an asp in my courier and when the instance loaded up it was only me. Is this devolving into a lets make open my own personal mobius? Or just networking?.

Not really the same thing...why allow open to be off limits because of one or two a holes? One can block the a holes and enjoy open...how is that not a win?

Ok so its not a win fer the a holes but heres the thing...I dont care. Really...I couldnt give a fiddlers :p

I had the same experience last week - someone in my block list was in SC, attempted to interdict me and when the instance loaded he wasn't there. Happened twice only, so there's still a chance it was a disconnection issue, and in that particular case I was actually looking forward to be interdicted; but if this is confirmed to work as intended I find this pleasing.

I would say the chances were it was networking.

I've even had similar with NPC's interdicting me, although that's got to be something other than networking.

It seems unnecessary to be against a block function when it is essentially the same like private or solo.

Just another post on the road to "I have no idea what I am talking about."

Your argument is invalid.

why allow open to be off limits because of one or two a holes?

On behalf of all a holes world wide, I take offence at this.

We a holes serve an important function. Without an a hole, everything would back up and things stop working.
If you get rid of a holes, then the whole system would stop working. After all, we get rid of sh..... stuff not wanted.

People who make open a worse place are not a holes, as they do not serve a purpose.
They are people who are into self-gratification, they only please themselves and no one else.....

oh what was that word to describe someone who only pleases themselves, I think it starts with a w and rhymes with "tanker"...?

:D :D :D

(For the benefit of those with a limited sense of humour - this is a joke post, no actual offence is intended)
