Blocking feature being abused or was it intended to be this way? FDEV?

And what about the folks who aren't "militant pacifists" but would simply prefer to play with the vast majority of folks who aren't complete turds? I think you'll find that's most folks using block-lists.

It's a pitty that so much studying didn't teach you to not judge people by in-game actions.

is there a way to import the blocklist automatically or do I have to add each commander separately after I download it?

Adding a list isnt needed. Just play in open and if you feel you have come across a CMDR who isnt adding to your gaming experience then block.

He can either go solo which makes Open less enjoyable for all including himself or he could just block the guy who killed him several times and then carry on in Open making new friends.

Pretty sure there is a third option, if not a fourth and fifth.

Why not, wouldn't make making open great again easier?

It's not something you can import. As it isn't a downloadable list as such.

Many players keep a written (or typed/digital) record of people who have killed them or wronged them in some way. Those players tend to pass that information on to anyone who will ask, so if you get instanced with a player from their list you could put the player on block - even if they have not done anything to you but just from the recommendation from the first person.

Though going around asking who to block is one thing, the fact you have to be instanced with them so you can block them is another ;)
(unless you friend them first, then you can move someone from friend to block in the game menu should they accept the friend request)

I call that my Friend List

I call that my Friend List

Aye. Glad I don't have to mess about with any of this nonsense.
I play in private groups with real life friends.

I am connected to the Mobius group and to Hutton Orbital, but it is very rare I ever log into them.
But the days I want a co-op mmo feel, they are great for that.

I find this post hilarious. Absolutely fuels my giggles into overdrive like a evil scientist cackling atop an evil volcano lair.

It's like complaining about locks on peoples doors. "Dear police, it isn't fair that our neighbors are preventing us from killing/robbing them. Do you really want to be responsible for such abuse? You absolutely MUST intervene and resolve this situation that we created!!"

I'm sure the devs are having a good laugh too. Man o man, what a treat this thread is, like seriously. Whining to the devs about being blocked en masse by players for being baddies lol. Such salty posts man they seem mad about this.

Wear it like a badge of honor instead of being whiny cowards about it or grow up.

Don't judge people in a game by their in-game actions... :D

That sounded like he was replying to me, but since I plonked him I'm not seeing his drivel any more unless somebody quotes it.

For what it's worth, I'm not judging people by their in-game actions - I am, however, judging whether they are people I want to play with. Joe Q Cmdr may be a wonderful person if I met him personally, but if he's a poor sportsman and plays like a slimeball - which has nothing to do with whether or not his ship shoots at mine, but more to do with why - then in-game he is being a slimeball and I reserve the right to not play with somebody who plays like that. I'd rather play with somebody who shows a little more respect even if we find ourselves in conflict. I'm likely to find those other people in a different instance to the jerks, since they are likely to have blocked the jerks already so by blocking the jerks myself I'm actually increasing my chances of more meaningful gameplay with better players.

You bow to an opponent in the dojo, or salute them in the fencing salle or touch gloves in the boxing ring to show respect for your opponent and acknowledge the fight that's coming and then you give it your best shot knowing that they will do the same. The cheap shot artists spamming remarks about my parentage or about my mother into chat don't have any of that respect in them and so they simply aren't worthy of my time or my effort to fight them. Yeah, they'll bite the block list.

Is this STILL going on?

It's like the Chuck Norris thread. Every so often someone cannot resist and must drag it up out from the depths. Blocking is a mechanic which affects noone, except those who wish to POSSIBLY avoid people they'd rather not instance with. The chances of EVERY SINGLE PLAYER who is vehemently anti_PvP blocking EVERY PvP player is so infinitesimally small it's barely worth discussing.

This thread keeps cropping up because those who view PvP as nothing more than a killing playground don't like the idea that not everyone wants to be their content. Anyone who actually respects PvP for what it is supposed to be, won't care an iota about being blocked.

Oh, and yes, the way people post on these forums is directly influenced by their personality, regardless how much they try to deny it. It's not your EXACT persona, that would be impossible. But, much like other social media outlets, people's general attitudes tend to shine through in forums. And as I have more experience than probably everyone here (except those in my line of work of course), it's a scary thing to know that someone you know IRL and you believe to be a great, caring person, is an absolute ***** when let loose behind an anonymous keyboard.
