BPC lied to me...

So I went from near 37 Xi Bootis to Hajanheimr to CD-47 9020 with the promise of 6.8 MILLION credits! Only to discover that BPC was trolling me... I got around 100k from selling 100 units of Superconducters.

I hate you...

Some trades can be outdated.
Oh and have this just for you...

There is one good thing about the "trade" route. I have a new area to explore and I'm near Lave and Zaonce. I've never been in Imperial space so I'll be a good little Feddie and behave myself.

typos, typos everywhere.

With that kind of profit either a trading-tool hater trolled you, or EliteOCR missed a couple digits again. Both are great tools anyway, though recent updates have broken my workflow. EliteOCR will no longer let me import my own 1024 data into Slopey's for private use, because it turns out it was never private. Not that I blame Slopey or anyone else, but I haven't found a suitable alternative yet. I'm thinking about writing my own, but I don't know how to get coordinate data.

excuse my ignorance, but what is a/the/they/it/them/that BPC?
Look up Slopey's BPC
BPC = Basic Profit Calculator (I think)
A seperate program that tells you the best commodity to trade from where you are to anywhere. It tells you how much profit you will make etc.

I use cmdr;s log, you need to type the data manually but it's worth it :)

Slopey's BPC can be found right here on the forums and has OCR support. BPC reads a log file for info and sorts it for easy use. Just type in your Jump Distance, credit balance, and tonnage as well as your starting and ending location and then grab the stuff for the sale in-game. I've got 2 more "Insta-Asps" that I'm ignoring. I know better... Now...

Yeah, the BPC tool is garbage. Every time I tried it, it was woefully inaccurate. Really a shame though because the app interface is exceptional.

OK, so now we are whining about a 3rd party, free tool that effectively helps you gain an advantage over those to chose to play Elite: Dangerous the way it was intended.

What next, whining about the weather? Is that Frontier's fault too?

BPC gets the data from user input. If you don't like it, enter the data in yourself on the systems you want to trade in and see how it goes.

Personally the prices that I see in BPC are very accurate when I fly out to verify them. I haven't personally encountered false prices yet, although I have seen blatantly obvious false data lingering at the extreme outliers of the dataset. Simply ignore that data instead of blindly chasing after what looks like best bargain in the history of bargains.

I deleted Slopey's because of consistent false information and star systems not listed. Thrudds is a much better source of information.

It isn't BPC that is lying, it is a few of the players adding duff info.

You can filter out the (obviously) incorrect profits + you need to be wary of any prices that haven't been updated for sometime.

Remember that any run you see with high profits can be seen by thousands of others - don't be surprised if prices are trashed by over trading by the time you get there.

Systems that are missing need to be added before they will show.

I haven't used EliteTradingTool but unless it it somehow ripping the raw data from ED, how it does it avoid the same issues?

[Edit - just tried out EliteTradingTool.co.uk: Although lacking some of the features available in BPC. it is very simple to use and extremely quick. However just like BPC, if commodities are either entered incorrectly or not updated at all, it suffers from exactly the same accuracy issues (on some commodities). I am looking at a simple 2 jump there and back route that I have been running for the last couple of days that is making avg cr/t 2100 and ETT is telling me I would make 1350 cr/t. This is because the prices haven't been updated for several months and to be completely fair BPC is only up to date now because I have been updating the prices while I run the route. I will update both tonight at the same time and then compare them once they have updated (at least I only have to OCR the stations once ;))]

I use these tools to find areas where I think there may be profits to be made, but gather the data myself once I arrive (before wasting profits and more importantly time). At least if you have updated it, you know it is accurate. Otherwise you can never be 100% sure the data is accurate.

If the profit to be made looks unrealistically high - it is probably wrong (and might even be a Trader Trap for a pirate group).
