Bring back the classics

What ship would you like to see back most?

Poll really needs an "all of the above" option, regardless though if I must pick from them the Wolf would be one I would point to as it would be a very deadly ship to behold. :)

The more the better. I am sure Frontier has noticed the communities love for the Krait, and that something will be done with it. I would love if Frontier could surprise us with adding one of the classics without us knowing. :) Be it the Krait, Mamba, Gecko, Boa or Moray which seems to be the ships from the original which haven´t been added yet. Yes, and the Worm. The Shuttle or Transporter, well thats another story. Maybe they could be NPC cannon fodder :) And we still havent heard much about the Thargoids. I think we still have a lot of "snacks" incoming :) I wonder if hardpoints in the "nose" are coming, or if it can be added as an upgrade. Maybe a rare upgrade which is very expensive.

What would you reckon to an epic Community Goal to collect and deliver Technical Blueprints, and the more we collect, the more Good Old Ships are restored to the game?

This would really demonstrate us time-poor 84's resolve to see the Mamba, Gecko and Krait fly again.

Note that the smaller ships in the game actually have a purpose with high acceleration / military jump drives, for assassination and courier missions. This differentiation has been lost in E: D as all hyperspace jumps take the same time, and all FSD flight is at the same speeds.

I would really love if different FSD types/classes affected more than just hyperspace jump distance. Top speed/acceleration/deceleration/interdiction resistance/FSD charge time/mass lock resistance. There are so many parameters you could play with to get really unique builds with interesting trade off choices.

No Tiger, Lion, Puma or Panther?!?! Out of the ones you mention above, I'd vote for the Moray or the Boa.

Oh, & bring back the Lynx Bulk transports ;).

I'd love to see NPCs flying "old" ships that are unavailable to players, just to mix it up. Since we (humans) are all new, buying ships in this year, it'd make sense to see some old Krait flying around owned by some old family. These are the things fans could do if they had a creation kit.

Water levels have risen on earth by around 4m in the time of Elite. Cruising around a flooded future London in a starboat would be ace.

Not much love for the Gecko here then? It would by my next preference after the Krait, because it has a lovely distinctive planform.

A lot of people say that the small ships don't have a raison d'etre any more. We were discussing running costs yesterday on a bit of a tangent, and I think that this is where the value of the smaller combat craft should lie. Repair costs for the big ships should be high enough that bounties and mission rewards should barely cover the cost of repairing combat damage, whereas the smaller ships should be affordable little runners. This would make operating big combat craft the preserve of navies, Powers and authorities, because they need to project power even if doing so doesn't break even in combat.

In saying that, I am not asserting that these ships should be taken out of the hands of players, just that to repair them, players will have to dig deep, or go to stations where they have good reputation, get repairs from a Combat Bond issuer after CZ work, or at one of their Power's control systems.

This would give the game more reasons to run a wider range of ships, since using the most powerful combat craft will require other gameplay choices.

I agree with you but you are forgetting about the roar of the forum. There are far too many on this forum who would shout down such proposals even though they would actually make the game better. Do you not remember what happened when FD tried to make you pay depreciation on modules when changing ship parts?

Even something as simple as that was beaten down by moans and groans of "this is going to ruin my life!"

The worst part is that sensible game design is forgotten in favour of the opinion of the mob. It is not as if credits are hard to earn in this game and not getting easier by the day. So best of luck with that!

I just want the damn original Imperial Courier D:

Those are of course unofficial sketches, but if the size comparison is correct, I just don't understand the new Courier design decisions...

Since the thread restarted, I said it and I'll say it again, ye original Courrier.

Like someone said before. A large ship to large to land on a planet could be cool with a medium or small ship used to go planet side with an srv in it to explore or land at base. Meanwhile the big ship stays in orbital cruise awaiting your return
