With the imminent launch of yet another scam Space Game (by imminent I am, understandably, comparing it to the other scam Space game!), I guess everyone will be pledging, pre-ordering or whatever and readying to abandon ship with ED!

I guess they could be the secret investor of elite? As in maybe they are looking to bid for frontier, so they can pump up a better version of elite under the guise of a new game.

I guess we'll have to hope that they keep the servers running in-between though - it would suck them buying frontier to release elite dangerous 2, and cancel the original before version 2 was available to release.

Just think about it! A game where the players can earn real cash money playing! The ED trillionaires should flock there, dreaming of owning their own tropical island paradise and buying in company of their choice! Amazing opportinity indeed!

So right. Do we know if there is a big game studio behind the company developing that game?

I was thinking if it could be traced back to Sony or MS again, it would certainly add to the theory I found in the article, that they are looking for some kind of takeover.

But think of the possibilities a pay to win version of the game could bring. I've no doubt whatsoever that the revenue stream would mean much better development, and many more features. We might even see ship interiors and earth like worlds for release, as frontier hate us so much.

Either you are the most subtle of thin irony spreaders, or a man that hates Elite! ;)

Doritos sponsored a video game and way back when so did skips. I think Macdonald's did too so..... you never know .

(and don't forget the shaky game..... a game by shakin Stevens. and yes I did own that 😆 )

Wasn't that on the vinyl of one of his albums? - Frank Sidebottom was also a programmer and wrote a game for the ZX81 that he hid on one of his vinyl albums.

Also, don't forget Mr Wimpy and the Weetabix game.

Read about it, put a line through it as not something I shall be playing, at least in it's intial releast;

We’re not planning on planetary landings and exploration for release but that’s not to say we’re not exploring how to implement it in a way that fits with the current design and play style. I know which game’s inspiration we’re going to draw from and that’s what excites me already about future expansion.

Also the devs claim to know a lot about other space games but don't really;

We considered other gameplay styles like Elite Dangerous, or Star Citizen but they are huge in scope, and I wanted to aim for something that is achievable.

While ED indeed is huge in scope, I certainly don't consider SC huge in scope, as far as space games go it appears quite small in scope.

While someone else buying out FD could go either way, i wouldn't like to gamble on the chances that it would be for the better, and anyone prematurely celebrating this idea might want to keep in mind that if it happens it could be a company like Tencent (who already own 9% of FD).

If Tencent bought them out, then first of all i'd laugh at everyone who called for another company to take over FD, and then i'd cry, because i could guess at what the future will bring.
You can always cry at my shoulder and then I would take you to the other thread, show your wet eyeballs and tell them how easy it was to make the glossy eye effects.
