Broken Atmospheric Lighting

Maybe I'm wrong and they'll put that back in too, but most likely it'll need to be opened as a new issue, separate from the colored lighting bug.
Yea I'm worried about that as well. If it doesn't get fixed I guess we'll need to create a new forum thread with a new grass roots campaign :p

Atmospheric fog and haze is definitely something they have to look into, especially since thargoid sites are pretty bland now as the green mist is missing completely as far as I have seen.

Has anyone already created an issue report on that end? If not I might set one up later.

Not to be a downer, as I'm super excited about this fix making it in, but based on the wording it sounds like they're only fixing the color tint of stellar lighting, not the atmospheric fog/haze/scattering effects themselves that were present in the Odyssey trailers and alpha.

In any case, I'm so glad that at least this part of it is being fixed, as it was affecting the entire game. It'll definitely be a huge improvement across the board. :)
The issue report I sent to the tracker wasn't about the Stellar illumination bug or atmospheric fog. These are things others have brought up in this thread independently. The original issue is only about light scattering and the atmospheric planets individually and some mention of shadows, no mention of the Star colour issue (as I wasn't fully aware of it). As they have linked specifically to the issue I posted on the tracker, we can only assume the fix is for the atmospheric lighting issues originally outlined. Hopefully they also threw in fixes for the other issues brought up in this thread. I guess we'll find out.

Let's see, maybe the haze/fog and other atmospheric lighting issues are related with the stellar tinting problem that has been fixed. We will find out soon... Anyway, I'm also happy to see we are going to get the stellar tint fixed!

I want to be hopeful, but experience tempers my expectations. I would be very surprised if fixing atmospheric lighting results in both star colour and volumetric fog being fixed.

if one or the other is still broken after update 9, that would mean that it will have taken more than 7 months to restore features that have been shown to be working in Alpha and all promotional material since the game was launched. 😑

I don't know if it's easy or not, but I don't see why it would be too difficult.
I've always hated the "if you think it's so easy then YOU do it" argument anyway; these are people who have made game development their career. If anyone is gonna be able to do it, it is them. It's not exactly a huge ask to want them to put something back into the game that was already present before. They aren't creating quantum computers here, expecting game developers to develop a game is not exactly asking too much.

Well we did it boys... Update 9 brings us salvation... for atmospherics at least. I hope the colored star light bug is also solved, but we'll see.

Well thank Eff for that! I'm guessing volumetric fog is still absent though?

Either way, I shall reserve judgement until the update is actually released and I can see it for myself. 🤞
This I don't know. However the fog that is present is now colored accordingly. (as far as I can tell from the images)
