Hey Alot, look over there! Don't look at that Orca! I want the record for the trip in the slowest ship in the game! Even a Sidewinder beats an Orca.

I'm still 4,500Ly from home, and I'm hoping I'll have enough for an Orca and at least one round of insurance... The thought of flying an Orca back from Sag A* is a bit daft.

Though daft ought to be my middle name for thinking of the Sag A* in an Orca.

I have a list of names for it though, currently topping the list is "Gin Palace"

Allrighty race fans, the second set of bumper stickers has been sent on their way!

CMDRS FoxTwo, Alex Rider, Samwell Drakhyr, and Ekil Tieja, keep your eye on your mailboxes for the next couple weeks for the single most important piece of mail you will receive in your lifetime. ;)

And everybody else who has completed Buckyball Run A*, remember to include your mailing address in your PM with your screenshots to receive your FREE Buckyball Run A* bumper sticker!

Harbinger, that includes you even though you posted your results in the thread. Bucky won't hold it against ya... PM your address and ready yourself for Bumper Sticker Nirvana!

Because, let's face it... Everybody loves bumper stickers.

EDIT: and now Harbinger! Harby's bumper sticker goes into the mail tomorrow. I say his name and mention the bumper sticker in the same sentence, and a private message appears. The bumper sticker is all powerful! It could be you. Sag A* is waiting!

This begs the question... will I make it home to Sol in time before the bumper sticker arrives? Or will I still be out here among the stars and the sticker will languish away in the mailbox, being unable to be applied to my Cobra....

Yup I'm still kinda like 12,500 or so LY out from Sol :p

Well, I actually do written pieces only. However, I think it would be a great idea to share the story between Galnet and Radio Sidewinder. Maybe you should still try to get a voice interview? If Alot agrees to the interview(s), of course. =)

I just heard the news item about the Sag A* on Radio Sidewinder!

Haha... Don't worry, I don't plan on trying to become top of every leaderboard; I don't have that much time, and certainly don't have the inclination :p
The only other ship I was going to consider trying was the Sidewinder, and only if I was the first one doing it (in case nobody else was mad enough!)
Fortunately, Kyra Inari has saved me the trouble on that front :D

Gah, and I was fast asleep! Hopefully it comes back on at some point in the future :)

Financial suicide tips fence sitter over the edge into madness!

I would like to re-count a series of posts from the "Active Community Goals" thread if I may ...

3:30pm 11/5/3301
I'm going for the python, from what I've heard that ship is a thing of joy. I'm gonna have to strip my Asp down to a shell and store it's desolate hull in dry dock in order to be able to afford it (don't worry baby, I'll come back for you later) but I want to cash in on the Zaonce discount while I still can (please tell me I'm not too late).

7:56pm 11/5/3301
Well the good news is that I got my Python - yay! The bad news is that I had to tear the Asp apart with a potato peeler, replacing it's vital components with knock off versions from Primark, in order to be able to scrape enough cash together to do so. I have just enough money left for the insurance plus a cargo bay full of gummy bears so it's the solo trade grind for me for a while now :-(

9:34am 12/5/3301
Meanwhile, I have not been having quite as much good fortune. Having managed to scrape (and I do mean scrape) just enough cash to get a stock Python with the Zaonce discount, I then proceeded to fill her with rares (including 50t of corn - yay). Alas, without enough money left to upgrade the FSD I found myself stranded at TURDetani (how appropriate) on route to Witchhaul with no available route onwards. Not only that, I couldn't get to any of my other ships, nor could I get to Shinrarta Dezhra (where I hoped to be able to upgrade to a 5C drive). Eventually I was left with no other option but to sell 78t of rares for a grand profit of 25c per ton and strip all unnecessary modules, leaving me with just enough range to get to Founders World. I now have the 5C drive which does indeed make the Witchhaul rares run JUST possible with full cargo but you know what, it's too risky and just too darn pitiful. My current plan is to swallow my pride, sell the Python and buy an Imperial Clipper which I will paint brown, fill with corn and cowpats, and fly back and forth humming "I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key" as a lesson to other pilots whose greed outways their common sense.

10:16am 12/5/3301
It's worse ... for some reason I thought "Master" rank was sufficient to unlock the clipper but it turns out I need "Baron". Right, sod it, I'm doing a rares run in this Python if I have to get out and push the damn thing and if that doesn't pan out then I'm re-equipping the Asp for the Buckyball A*. You hear that EZ? I'm coming for my bumper sticker!

You may recall my other problem was finding an RL opportunity to make my run. Well a perfect storm has arisen whereby I will have the house to myself for 48hrs in two weeks time!

Watch this space.

:D

I'll give it a try with my little rocket.
Estimated start is on Thursday morning.

I do not expect to break any records, but it will definitely be an adventure.

It's kinda boring actually. So far the most interesting thing I've found is a binary system. Granted I'm only 4,000LY out right now...

Wow that sticker is HUGE! I don't even know where I'd put one of those. :D
Mine obviously hasn't yet arrived. Anyways since I'm still around 23 thousand lightyears out, I wonder where my bumper sticker's at now and who gets home first? :)

Got this in the mail today, pretty sure the mail person was like with name on the envelope.

Woah! Terranblade already got his bumper sticker. That postman must be a Buckyballer. :p I hope they all get to their destinations that quickly and intact. Well... if it gets there intact, it might not be one of us doing the delivery...

If it gets there before you, hopefully whoever signs for it is trustworthy. I hear these things will go for millions on eBay. (work with me on this. We might be able to create a craze and get rich.)

Kyra, welcome aboard! We're all pulling for the first Sidey to make the run. Darayavahush, welcome as well! You're going in a Viper? Hardcore man... Hardcore!

Well, it's been a while since my initial trip in my trusty Dawnbringer - only muddled by incompetence such as forgetting to actually capture the starting time or starting at Galileo. Or doing so in Open.
So, deciding to rectify all these mistakes on my next run and to make it official, I'm setting myself up for Round II. Not going to be going for a best time probably - other people seem to be better at that. Alot better.

Therefore, here's my official declaration of my second trip to Sadge.

Asp Explorer? 6 million credits.
Assorted jump-optimised modules? Another 7 million credits.
All the duct tape you can possibly it? Another 16 million credits.
A 6A Fuel Scoop? Just 28 million credits.
The look on the station attendant's face when you park your over 58 MCr Asp and break out the ol' Sidewinder? Priceless.
