This picture is from about 11000 LY away. I was starting to think something was wrong. Shouldn't I be heading towards teh middle of the bright bit? The actual "Milky Way":
And from about 6000LY I was sure there was a problem. I looked at my coordinates and I was about 1100 LY above Sag A* (and Sol).
I thought that cost me time by travelling up in the wrong direction, then having to correct it, but it diverted me from the main galactic plane, and reduced the number of system for the route plotter to use.
Right now while I'm in the center its taking forever to plot only 40ly.
