... since references beyond the planet aren't consistent.

The only constant reference I can think of is the Magellanic Clouds, so I use them to designate "up" and "down".

Yinyin was the pioneer of rock mapping, did some excellent work on belts, and is all-around accomplished mining scholar. I respect him highly.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of using references outside of the galaxy :D
For myself I am using the convention that rings rotate towards 'East', so when facing the planet, with 'East' on the right, 'North' is up.
 
Sometimes errors get into eddb. There was a system with a nice planet a few months ago that kept reappearing, but the planet had a name from a different system, or something. Meant it wasn't close to the bubble at all, because it wasn't in the right system.
 
I check pre-scanned systems I visit for them, since they can't be scanned and auto-uploaded to edsm. Other than that I just check out known rings for RES.

I have finished the system for importing Pristine Metallics from eddb.io

I decided to only import populated systems or the ones within 60 light years of populated systems. Still, over 700 new systems were added to the list.

The default landing page now will not display any systems until a reference system is entered, and there's an optional "maximum distance" parameter.

I still need help in identifying the RES in the rings, it's a slow process, because you need to fly to the ring and actually eyeball the RES, because some of them might be in the outer, non-metallic rings.

To make the task easier I made a "secret parameter" to only display populated systems. To do so, you need to add "&pop=1" to the end of the url. This example will produce a list of all known populated systems with PrisMet rings: http://edtools.ddns.net/?s=Sol&md=0&pop=1 - there are 241 of them as of today.

I did some quick analysis of the locations. A good portion are around Colonia(180) or on the way(70). Then there's 40 more around the nebula bases towards the galactic rim, and 60 around the Pleadies. Finally about 650 are near the Bubble.

I wonder how many are left unrecorded in pre-scanned systems? I found Torno 9 last year just by accident.

I was hoping to report in a pris met with low, std & haz res sites, but then realised I didn't have a DSS! And EDSM doesn't have this system fully scanned either, anyway, if you want to check it out, it's system LHS 2337. Or I'll do it at a much later point.
It's got those res sites, I just don't know what ring types.

If you don't have a scanner you can drop into the nav beacon and target it to get the system data (only populated systems have a nav beacon).

Fancy checking out Malayamatha to? Has high & haz res sites, planets 4 & 5 have rings but haven't been fully scanned for EDSM......... & I know 3 & 4 did have scans showing rings, but they've vanished now!! Wth??
