[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

I looked at the initial post and might miss this form. Is it the FleetComm Private Group sign up form? I submitted that request just now.

Done.

==========================================

Since a lot of people apparently just received the Newsletter, Registrations are extended to TOMORROW NOV. 30th, 20:00 IGT.

I just signed up. I'm going to try and make it for the launch date but I'm still out in the Formidine Rift and working my way home. If I don't make it then I'll have to catch up with you guys somewhere down the road. Incidentally, I signed up to fly as a carrier in an Anaconda ... I don't own an Anaconda so I guess I've got a big purchase to make :)

Another short question: does DEPARTURE TIME actually mean departure time or "arrival at rally point"?

P.S.: I finally found my registration link. My browser shows those links as broken photo links. Thank you Chrome!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my old HOTAS died last week. I finally got the replacement the other day, but it's a bit sticky at the moment, making throttling down while jumping a tedious process. As a result I've decided to change my ship to something a little better suited to handling unforeseen circumstances with flying into a star and getting all close and personal.

I'm #116 on the roster and would like to change my ship from an Imperial Cutter (INV Cutty Sark) to a Cobra Mk III (Endeavour). I'll be carrying cargo (just not as much) so I can continue flying as an unarmed Carrier. :)

Thanks in advance.

I know from this thread that 20-25ly is a comfortable jump range for the journey. But I'm now wondering about jump endurance. Is it a good idea to shoot for a minimum range between refuels in case of regions of non-scoopables, or is the path rich enough in KGBFOAM that it's fine to carry just the core fuel tank?

I don't want to end up with some poor Stratotanker having to use half their limpets on my gas guzzler for want of an axillary tank that I would only have to give up 5-10% of my cargo capacity for.

I've flown out and back twice so far, once with a Federal Corvette (14.5 ly per jump) and once with an Asp (42.5 ly per jump). The Corvette had a second tank half the size of the main tank, and it needed it to get through brown dwarf fields. The Asp had an auxiliary tank but it was not at all necessary.

I just flew my Cutter build out to California Nebula for a test run with an aux tank (again, 1/2 the size of the main tank) and an 8A fuel scoop. This build is 33.77 ly with no cargo and 27.81 ly with 320 tons of cargo. Near the bubble the aux tank is unneeded, but I'm not convinced that it won't be handy halfway to Jacques.

Me? I like the extra fuel tank, even if it's just for convenience during exploration side trips through neutron fields.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely bring along an aux thank then.

I returned from there 4 weeks ago in a 22 ly FAS with 3 jumps to the tank and had no problems.

Are there any min/max requirements for the militia escourts?

I read something about them carrying manifest scanners.

Check the Launch Procedure doc.

The route is super easy, with more density as we approach Colonia. No worries about fuel ;)

I signed up, though I'll be using my Xbox account, is there anybody else doing this on Xbox?

Yes, nearly 40 that we know of. Contact Echo Wake or DrYayoMeister on the Discord server, they take care of the XBox side :)

Departure time is the time we'll actually start setting ourselves ready to jump. As you can imagine, these logistics take a bit of time. Those who are in system earlier will be dispatched earlier, 1800 is for the bulk of the fleet to gather and be dispatched, and 1900 is the jump (assuming everybody is ready). But if you show up at 1850, you won't be dispatched; at some point we have to close the preparation and go forward.

After checking up on the launch event plans last night I saw that us Freelancers are not welcome at the party.

Really not impressed by that at all and see no reason for it either. We signed up in good faith just like all the other pilots and now we are just shunted aside and only get to watch? Kind of makes registering for the convoy a bit pointless and I could of set off weeks ago but I was under the impression we would all be setting of together and that this would be a good social event. I have sent out tweets, posted links to this CCN and tried to point CMDR's who were interested in going to Colonia towards this thread, what an utter waste of my time that turned out to be. After reading that we are not wanted or welcome at the event - it even comes across as a threat if we enter the instance, I figured why wait any longer, the ships ready, I'm ready and so I've left already.

Maybe I'll see some of you on the way over the next few weeks.

Fly Safe! o7

There is a layer of unscoopables just below the 0 coordinate on the y axis of the GalMap. As long as you stay away from that you should be fine. You can also tell the route plotter to not take you to unscoopables now. So there should be no problem no matter your fuel tank size. Plus there are plenty of refuel tankers in the convoy.

A pity really, i understand your point of view as a freelancer myself (my first great expedition so far). Hope to see you in the void Commander ;) o7

I'm sure you will good sir. I suppose with so many CMDR's there is a lot to co-ordinate but it would of been nice to have even a little something for us BUT - yes there can always be a but... Whats to stop us from organising a Freelancers Party along the way?

Going to have a look at where we are during Christmas and see if there's somewhere really interesting for us to have a party and to show how nice we are EVERYONE can come! :D

Well, first, this has been there and planned since the beginning; nothing new here.

Second, it's a RP matter. Freelancer is a RP-free role, so it's only logical that RP event is separate from the non-RP event, otherwise there's no point.

Third, for the very reason that Freelancer is a free role, there is no endorsement from my part to set up a Freelancers event. Ref. restrictions-free role.

Four, although to a smaller extent, it's a security matter. Escort is tied to the CMF, while Freelancers can be rogue armed ships and can, although unlikely, represent a greater risk.

Five, nothing prevents you and I encourage any Freelancer to organize a Freelancers mass jump. You have the right to show initiative too ;)

Six, if you're not happy with being a Freelancer, for which rules have been set from the beginning nearly two months ago, be a Carrier or an Escort.

Alright, I think I finally got a ship locked in.
Ship is a T9, Named Bit and Barbel
My definition of cheap changed when I found money, so now I can afford to not have an adder. :D
If ya wanna update the roster, Danger Noodle.
Sorry for being a massive pain in the rear end. :I
