Corporatists Stalled by Jupiter Division’s Defeat

The fall of Jupiter Division has undermined the popular movement calling for the Federation to be governed by corporations.
Conrad Sterling, political journalist for Vox Galactica, reported on developments:
“Core Dynamics’s recent victory in the Ts’ao Tach system dealt a severe blow to the corporatists. Many companies withdrew their support even before the last shot was fired, and plans for Jupiter Division to become the movement’s central organisation have been abandoned.”
“Sighs of relief were undoubtedly breathed through the corridors of power on Mars when this threat to the Federation’s democratic principles was defeated. And yet, despite Congress downplaying it and many Federal newsfeeds neglecting to cover the story, calls for a corporatocracy have not been completely silenced.”
“Citizens who seek an alternative to voting for either Hudson or Winters are still attracted to the idea. Would corporate rule be more honest? Opinions vary, but many supporters claim ‘big business’ already possesses true power behind closed doors.”
“It now seems that history will record this as a path not taken. With Jupiter Rochester imprisoned and Jupiter Division dissolved, replacement figureheads for the corporatist movement are unlikely to arise in time to preserve it.”

Irony time: Aisling has big corporate backers according to her bio in Powerplay. Maybe she should be the figurehead :D If her and Rochester did get together it would be a corporate royal Federal tie up.

Hmm, about Salvation: Could it be that s/he is related to this somehow?
The crew are all long dead and Salvation doesn't appear to be with the Club, who probably already know about all this through Pharmasapian. But even if they don't, he's opposed to Aegis which is always a good sign

Opposed? I thought it was more just condescending sentiment.

I said "related to", not "involved with". ;)

Though considering the Club's tendencies for weird aliases, "Salvation" would certainly fit right in.

"Azimuth Saga continues"

Aegis in Orion Nebula? The "Archimedes" megaship arrived to the area, and now is waiting for smthing.
So Aegis were added with the Archimedes and Taurus were added with the Glorious Prospect. And Taurus were the ones who paid out on the last Salvation mission reward. Interesting 🤔

Well, for now, but it seems very likely that there will be a competitive CG between Aegis and Salvation this week.

I'm going to bet it's collecting and delivering Guardian scan data from Obelisks. I can't see them shooting at each other just yet and we just had a Guardian salvage CG a few weeks ago.

Yeah, can't wait for the relog gameplay. I did have a brief look at if it'd be possible to trigger a Lockdown in the system so that Salvation could win with significantly less relogging, but as far as I can tell, these megaship-owning factions/CG factions in general have their security locked.

I don't think it's going to be a CG at all tbh. I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if it was, but what CG could realistically come out of this?

FD would have to lack any sort of foresight to have a competitive Guardian-collection CG here, when the mainstay of guardian stuff is elsewhere; that's a gold-plated endorsement of relogging if ever I saw one, if FD went down that path.

It could be some dual Thargoid/Guardian CG as well, but again, mats really centered elsewhere, and still just relog gameplay.

Maybe it's a guardian thing, plus an AX CG when the Thargies come back to their old battleground.

Personally though, while I was memeing this before, it's possibly the best opportunity for FD to open up the permits here under the guise of the two competing factions looking for something.

Long range trade CGs? Both sides are trying to establish competing outposts in the Trapezium system, want cargo to help build the base. Wouldn't necessarily be directly competitive - both could succeed at this stage.

Exploration CGs to get mapping data for other planets with Guardian/Thargoid structures? (Would fit well with a partial permit relaxation, as you suggest)

Still feels a bit early for an all-out fight between the two megaships, but it could happen.

yeah, good points. If I recall correctly, no part of the Azimuth story arc has been a "CG" so far. It could also be another lead and another paper chase for something.
