Challenger = Chieftain = Crusader, Krait = Python... What's the point?

In a spaceship game more spaceships is always good, it's the single biggest content injection you can have.

Nope, it'd new new gameplay activities. This is easily seen in the Q4 update, everybody is bitting their fingerfails to see it released yet there's no clue or reason to think it'll come with a ship.

And considering the only viable counter to packs is a fdl type top speed to boost away from them the alliance ships are literally without defense

What about shields? I dueled a guy that hit me with over 500 packs and never dropped my shields: (Challenger/800mj bi-weaves)

I agree that the Krait is a much better flight experience, but when hauling I don't really need that when hauling compared to the objectively better capacity of the python. For me, utility beats flight profile for that task.

I'm always fun over efficiency, my two favorite mission runners are the FDL and courier.

I have a cutter for hauling. Dreadful stopping distance constantly smashing off the front of stations to my amusement, and it chews pirates up like nobodies business. Wing haul missions in a couple of runs as well.

Never liked the feel of the python, just one of those unquantifiable things.

Challengers can be such ridiculous little balls of excessive HP for their cost. Shame they so often get denigrated for what they lack compared to the chieftain rather than what they have over it.

I don't do hauling missions, FDL doesn't have the capacity or jump range for my taste, which is a high priority for me when not shooting things. Especially when it's spread out commodities for tech broker unlocks, some of which the nearest supply is on an outpost, which means no cutter.

184tons with travel focused fit or 284 full cargo fitted, 53/41ly jump range, agile enough to land on a pad without issue. No other outpost capable ship can do the job as well.

Does anyone think the crusader is worth the time and effort to test? What makes it unique and special? I said the same thing about the challenger and got my answer after testing it. But I'm done with putting SLF on med ships.

I haven't tried it yet. Luckily I think it shares internals with the chieftain/challenger so I can just switch some G5 stuff straight in and give it a proper run.

Just too much to do in game.

You're forcing it to do something it doesn't do well. It doesn't have the distro to power a fast charge biweave so once your shields go down you'd have to turn them all off to get it back up again. Mines 340mj with two resistance skill boosters a sink and chaff. The challenger is not a competitor to the fdl in anything other than a one Vs one

I fly a challenger. I love it. But in real space when you're often up against a wing of three or four cognitive dissonance master's spamming you with packs you're better of in a fdl all the time

Dueling is typically 1v1

Personally I'd like them to need the fdls powerplant so you can't fit a prismo with six skill boosters like the worst type of dunning kreuger

Yeah duelling

But that ain't normal space

Normal space is anything goes

And duelling does becoming pretty boring. If much rather be up against two or three or four cmdrs than have a tedious half hour long 1 Vs 1

I don't use them. We'll more than two

And usually resistt ones. My point is that it's not equivalent to an fdl and with need an fdl competitor. I don't mind people running six in their big silly ships because they're meant o be insane tanks. I've beaten Corvettes with six without cheese weapons. But putting four on the challenger biweave is just not he solution to it's problems in comparison to fdl when facing wings with packs in open. Do as you please. But six skill boosters on an fdl prismo is pretty awful, but whatever

Wrong. My shields go down and come back all on their own. My hull/mrp can withstand a lot of pounding until it does.

Out of curiousity what do you do when you're four booster biweave drops? Just go pips 042 or highwake or turn all of them off? You need chaff for gimbal and a heaksink is great for going cold when you have to recharge your biwaeve and break missile lock...

Ok fair enough. Personally I prefer to run chaff.and sinks for utility. And I think the advantage you'll get from four skill boosters on a challenger will pale in comparison to four on an fdl which is my whole point

Unless of course you're pve in which case there's literally no challenge with engineering so do whatever you want

From cousins and friends, I've heard that romping around in Main Battle Tanks ruins both your hearing, and your kidneys.

I'll stick with the Python, thanks. They have bathrooms....
