Funnily enough, The actual Hutton group enjoyed our interactions and the defending players who showed up to fight up REALLY enjoyed it.
Because you chose to not want to enjoy it by playing in another mode doesn't change it for the many more people who did!
Your choice and that is fine, past really caring what Solo or Group players do. But still irks me they can effect Open from behind their safety wall. But you know that well and is for another thread and discussion.
Majinvash
The Voice of Open
Ahem - this feels slightly weird as I'm generally on the opposite side to Majinvash on pretty much every contentious topic.
But in this matter -
in part at least - I'm in agreement.
I get the point Cowboy was making and as I've said many times I don't feel that unwanted PVP makes for good gameplay for the person that doesn't want it, though I know some disagree.
But I really don't see it as people
falling for it or as
giving Code what they want. Sure it is what they (The Code) want - but if we (in this case Hutton truckers) also want it then we all win.
If FD somehow forced non combatants into an instance with a Code wing
- as their only login option - then yes - playing under those conditions would be being forced but that doesn't and can't happen as we know.
The Hutton re-match was an entirely voluntary thing - people did it because they wanted to.
It's quite extraordinary when you think about it - people whose gameplay style is mostly trucking, exploring and general co-operative play including but not limited to -
queuing, actually chose to go up against players who it seems mostly pursue combat and understand combat wing mechanics very well.
My disappointment was that our wing didn't get a 4 v 4 with a Code wing - we would have probably been trounced but it was something I wanted to try. As it was the matchmaking meant we ended up massively outnumbering lone pirates or at best a pair - which was a bit of a turkey shoot.
I think the event showed that players with very different views on the game can actually play together - voluntarily - in the right circumstances. Which I think is a good thing.
The reality is neither side (PVPer or PVEer) gets everything they want.
Given that FD are trying to please both styles I think we've got pretty much the best we can get.
Some PVEers would like the option to toggle off unwanted PVP and it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. Some PVPers would like everything to happen in open and it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.
