Common suggestions to improve Elite: Dangerous

Confused... What's the real purpose with this? All yuo have to do is pretty much aim and put your speed in the middle of blue? At the end as you get close to your destination there's you obviously have to adjust your direction repeatedly, but that's it.

Why do you want a computer to do that? Are you looking to free yourself up to do something else, eg: browse?

Pretty much. :)
For people who have dual, or even 3 monitors (and playing Elite on a single monitor), it would be nice to have a Nav Computer so we can browse freely on a second monitor, or even have a movie running.

How cool would it be to have a nav computer, focused and browsing on your second monitor, and all of a sudden being interdicted.
Not only would it act as an ease of use, it would also invoke a physical reaction (adds to the reality of the game)

Surely the answer is simply an "Advanced Docking Computer". Where it can not only dock, but also SC all the way to the station, and then dock?

Yes, but the implication is it's one module to do all, not two? Wasn't sure if you meant one module dedicated for each?

Actually, now that you mention it, it would have to be 2 separate modules.
Having 1 module just makes it way too easy. It would be the same thing as having a advanced discovery scanner and detailed discovery scanner in 1.
Making it a separate 'Navigation Computer Module', that would mean consuming up another Internal Compartment. It would add to the complexity of peoples load-outs.

...and we of course can't have anything "too easy" in ED - *sigh*

Possibly keep it as ONE module, but just using more energy ;)

My twopenneth worth:

1. I'd like to be able to choose what ship to pilot when I log in. OK, this may detract from the realism but it can be a PITA if I want to try a bit of trading / combat when I was last exploring some far-off nebula.

2. I'd like to be able to disable or 'grey-out' items in the navigation panel so that when I am exploring I don't keep selecting an asteroid, not realising until I return to the main screen.

3. How about a running total on what my cartography exploits are worth, so that I am not always so disappointed when I finally get back to civilisation and sell their spoils?

My first post so please excuse if suggestions already made; 46 pages are a lot to check prior to posting ;)

Expand on the CG idea to have more of a story, and link one to the next as cause and effect. Run a few in parallel in different parts of the bubble so everyone can participate.
That way players can participate in a story line (not a one off) that doesn't include the grind/decay of PP, and you can mix and match the types (hauling, mining, combat .....). As CG's are time limited, players get rewarded for that "chapter" of the storyline if they participate, and they can skip the next one/few if they want to take a break and mine/pirate/explore etc. They can just pick up again later if they wish.
FD could also use the CG's to dip into various PP components (it is after all one big happy milky way) as needed to move along plot lines etc.
The great thing about it is that the CG platform already exists (although I think it needs tweaking, another forum), so implementing something more engaging and interesting would be easy to do, and keep players more involved. It really wouldn't take much more than some creative writing/thinking, and a bit of collaboration with the PP creators to ensure it's integrated. It's another avenue of play and would appeal to a wider market = more customers purchasing the game.

Player made factions that, with enough credits (i'm talking around if not more than 1 billion so that it would require an entire faction to be able to create) can create small outposts which other factions or even npcs can attack (should they be provoked by players in the faction enough) Make outposts destructible or able to be taken over (with raid parties ranging from 15-30 ships depending on the size of the outpost) After destroying or taking over the outpost the faction should be able to receive taxes based off of player/npc ships docking, and purchasing things I believe could SERIOUSLY improve the game play experience and increase the population of the game immensely by creating appeal to a whole new type of player! Also it can give players an ability to make a more substantial impact on the galaxy than just occasionally getting to do missions that don't really change much of anything!

It would be nice to have an opportunity to plot route manualy system by system. And save it.

+1

I'm heading into o the elephant trunk nebula a few hours at a time. Re plotting each time I log in is annoying. I want to be able to select waypoints and at the very least have my last plotted route persist between sessions.

Why not for Solo mode have a quick logout key, so when pressed it shows a pause screen but logs you out of the game. When pressed again it comes back in after loading in all the relevant data? Yes I know you could logout etc BUT on some systems logging out can take ages and getting back in just as long this way would just update all the planets etc without initializing all the player graphics.

Heck thinking about it this could be extended to the other modes as its would be similar to logging out just without all the initialisations that go with it.

You could also plot a nice way through all systems of interest, it could be also helpful for traders who have loads of different routes on the go they could then travel from x to y to z trading along the way.

Xbox Preview Suggestion and Crash

I would like to see an "address book" or favorite systems menu. Saving systems you visit a lot would make the game flow a bit better. Many systems have names that are too complicated to remember so revisiting a system you found the day before would be near impossible unless you start a physical log book(I have done this to keep track of some of the systems I was the first to explore). I think if the tabs in the navigation panel were condensed they could easily fit it in there, although I suggest coming up with a better name than "Address book".

Another thing i would like to see is an in game friends list, Xbox Ones Snapins are slow and hard to use while playing(they should have stuck with the 360 function of the "xbox" button). An in game friends list showing who is online and which system they are in would be nice, however I do like having to identify their ship in order to invite them to my wing, it seems like the kind of thing a real space pilot would do if there were such a thing.

The Last thing I have is a CRITICAL Issue After exploring systems and returning to the universal cartographers menu in a station and selling the data. If I sell a system that I was the first to scan a menu pops up telling me this and showing me the bonus credits. First there is no way to scroll or control the window, its as if the cursor is stuck on the screen behind it. Also there is no way to close it short of backing out to the starport services menu and trying to enter back in to the Universal Cartographers menu. Doing the aforementioned way of "closing" will occasionally make my game crash, which ends up being the only bad thing about this game being that many things cause crashes. However this game is still in Preview so it is understandable and in my opinion is much more stable and finished than most "finished" games that hit the market!

Thanks for letting us be part of the creation and expansion of this game!!!

Cheers!!

A few thoughts from a new player:
- a weapon cooling system; name says it all, perhaps have it in a hardpoint for balance reasons

- Bounty brokers; while using the Kill Warrant Scanner I find that I accumulate vouchers for systems that are some distance away and not worth it for the value of the vouchers. one solution would be to have brokers in various stations who will buy the vouchers for a percentage of their price, with the percentage being dependant on the distance of the relevant system. Brokers might also sell such vouchers for others systems to players who could turn them in for a profit.

- Bounty tolerance; I find it odd that security ships will attack allied ships with relatively low bounties just as easily as they will for non-aligned ships. one alternative is to add a degree of tolerance depending on rank/relationship with the relevant faction. For example, a Baron in an Empire controlled system with a 800 credit bounty might receive a warning rather than laser fire.

- Targeting scanner; I find that gimballed weapons become less accurate beyond medium range, the dots indicating aim wobbling on more distant targets, these modules would reduce (or eliminate depending on module rank) this effect. There could also be variants that combat the effect of chaff or hasten missile/torpedo lock.

- Pulse scanner; behaves like a discovery scanner but it reveals information about all contacts within range. pilot name, rank, bounty ect.

+1 for this one.
I have bounties that I hadn't collected on from before the PowerPlay came in. Since power play, those systems are now too far away, and in an enemy territory and not really worth the risk travelling all that way to collect on.

Bounty Brokers is a brilliant idea.

I'd like a "true" HUD color changer (perhaps purchasable ones from stations?). I know it's already possible by editing the color values in the graphics config document, but the problem with that is that it screws up the displays that are supposed to be a certain color (warning prompts red, shields blue, allies green, etc.). I'd like my main HUD color to be white like I have now, but keep the warning prompts and hostile ships red like usual instead of gray. They're a bit too hard to see and I'm sure that's the way it is for any color besides red/orange/yellow.

And when is the docking station stuttering going to be fixed? "d-d-doc-king s-s-su-cces-s-ss-ful en-n-g-g-gin-es di-se-e-e-enga-ge-d-d-d-d"

A group of use discussed that on this dedicated thread - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=158486 ;)

Powerplay merit decay should stop when a pilot leaves faction-controlled space, so explorers don't get screwed. I'm not much of an explorer, but this seems really obvious. Otherwise PowerPlay totally excludes anyone who wants to see the galaxy.

Just a few small things that i miss:

Missions related:
--------------------------------------------------
When your under Transactions, and you have like me some times 10+ missions, and your in lets say "Shapsugabus" it would be nice that the missions that is in that zone your in are marked some how, might be in another color, or some other way marked that your in the system with those missions.

Missions: also would be nice if you via the Transaction could set the destination point to where xxx mission is located.

Missions: Possibility to sort the missions by systems, so they aren't just random thrown in the list. or they could by default be placed in small tabs like...

NPC related:
--------------------------------------------------
Special stations or ships that you can meat, that want to buy your Bounty Claims, as it is right now i have 36 different places i need to go to get my credits, but with such a NPC/Station/ship, they then buy them off you for like 60% of the original value, so its like a commodity you can sell to some NPC.... but they should be sorta rare, but not super rare tho.

Bribe some one to get some special missions, or be able to hack the panels or some like that.

Space / Combat related:
--------------------------------------------------
Jamming device, so you can jam signals from the ships you want to attack, so they cant send out a distress call or report you attacked them.

Radar, different color for ship and planets, as it is now it some times can be hard to see the target location, when they are near the planets, as it is now by default every thing is just orange.

And an warning if you approach a station without having a docking clearance, think we all forget some times to ask for landing permissions :D
