That may well be the overriding problem here.....with soo much stuff to fix in nearly every area, maybe it'll take a Galaxy re-boot to solve most of it.
Brand new Milky Way Galaxy, everyone starts from scratch........that'll go down well:eek:
I gather it is 'de rigeur' for another space game to reset the galaxy when bugfixing major components... That goes down well there too :)

I have to agree with this part of your post. Planetary Landings for me was the last update with any significant bar raising content.

I have trouble thinking of much else since then that IMHO has been much more than simple bolt on developments... And I unfortunately can think of numerous other example that I consider poorly designed, shallow or questionable developments.

Ultimately I still have trouble working out what 100+ folks have been doing for the past four or so years given what's been released...

And there's that!

Although I'm happy to see something is gonna be done about the bug pile that has been accumulated over the years I must admit that since planetary landings waaaaay back in the days there hasn't been any realy significant addition to the game.
True, (half developed) features have been added but if you realy look at the time that has passed and what's been added then I must confess that it's quite meager at best.
And yet the bugs kept on piling up.

Including Lava worlds and our Moon and...

anyone remember the volcanoes we were promised?

As expected the response to this news is a microcosm of the usual forum posts. From the enthusiasts that feel that the game need a good scrubbing for bugs before the addition of new features to the alarmists that see this as a sign of the imminent death of ED. From the conspiracy theorists who think that the development staff for ED consists of some poor slob shoved into a dark corner of the FDEV headquarters to the ones that think that 500 incompetent developers are working on ED.

I stand in the middle: I think it is praiseworthy that FDEV acknowledges the fact that they need to delouse the current code base and that the small team devoted to updating the current version of ED will have to postpone new features like fleet carriers to do this as they can only work on so much in the time that they have available. I'm fully aware that the bulk of the ED dev team is busy with the next paid update and that it makes no sense to take devs from that team in order to deliver both the bugfixes and the fleet carriers this year as that would jeopardize the planning for that next paid update (and thus validate the alarmists on this forum who see that release slipping into 2022).

Personally I'm not bothered by the delay of fleet carriers as I haven't got the in-game credits to afford one and wouldn't have gotten close to have those credits by the original release date. I don't expect to have them even by the revised release slot.

Sure, I'm sorry for everybody who was waiting full of expectations for the release of fleet carriers in December, but let's be honest: most of you wouldn't be able to afford one anyway at the original time of release.

I personally value game stability over introducing a feature that only the happy few would have had the resources to afford, with the delay that group will become bigger as well. And if the stability of the game increases for both the regular players and the ones who can afford a fleet carrier when they finally release them, I can only see that as a positive.

I applaud FDEV for their willingness to acknowledge the fact that they need to do some serious bug fixing and to have the guts to throw their schedule into disarray to take that on.

For all those armchair developers who seem to frequent these forums I'll leave you with the words uttered by Les Hatton (software safety expert) when he was giving a lecture at my company in the late 90's/early 2000's: "Fixing a bug has a 12 percent chance of introducing a even worse bug"

So I'd rather have them do a thorough debugging than to have rushed bug fixes with even larger consequences.

This is a joke i presume ? Some Players ? Come on man change that to the majority of players

I don't. I 'd rather have bugs, exploits and particularly the grind for mats being fixed. I'd also like to see more change to more diverse game play and more activities and motivation to make players work together instead of gankers being the main PvP experience.

So well, like the FDev headquarters after the "visit" of the nice community.:ROFLMAO:

Another SANE person just arrived...THANK YOU!!!(y)

Hi, I know Ps4 games will work on Ps5 but that's not what I asked. Ps5 will be a much superior console to Ps4 and it makes sense for the elite to keep up with this evolution. I don't say graphically but in a much more fluid gaming experience. For example, atmospheric landings make a lot more sense in a Ps5 because the planets will be much more elaborate than the rocky and ice planets we have today.

I remember making a post a while back(when they first delayed FCs), about how FD have failed to manage their resources and are in some degree incompetent with being able to deliver content or fix their own errors.
I was instantly criticized by mods and the usual white knights(just like the arx update) for being wrong and for not knowing what I was talking about. Apparently, to them, delaying deadlines multiple times equals a pat on the back and is a good way to run your company.
Funny seeing peoples reactions now.

Ok ok, but can you glorify FD in another topic? please <3

Seems, I'm quicker in writing than you reading.

And please, as long as your not a moderator, who forces me to spam another thread, I WILL stay here and stand my ground.
And as far as I can remember, I'm NOT glorifiing FDev. I'm just between the chairs. I see reasons "why" and "why not".

One's for certain, you will NEVER catch me glorifiing anything (despite logic) nor whigning continuosly over things that aren't in my hands to change.

Easy Peasy.;)

Thank you. I'll be more than happy to wait a little longer. Personally, I haven't been plagued by too many bugs (mainly because I enjoy a rather narrow range of activities), but I'd rather wait, than have others suffer due to my impatience.

I understand this decision was not made lightly. Thank you.
