ANNOUNCEMENT Community Update (22/10)

Oooohh i hear steam numbers again. I m sure that those numbers indicate healthy development.
If someone considers that many many many players dont use steam to play this game, i am sure that the total number shows, that there are no bugs at all, its all in our imagination.

I didn't encounter any of the bugs that people were complaining about after the update... As far as my direct experience is concerned they were just a bunch of nasty rumors.

Why is a new title in the works the elephant in the room? They've had a new title in the works literally every year for the past 17 years 🎮

I know the list and it's quite impressive indeed. But to remain fair, 1/3 of the list are addons/dlc's. Nevertheless impressive.

I encountered quite a few of those bugs (engineering, PIP-Resets, "doubled" modules to name a few), but other than others, I claimed those issues with a bug-report (issue-tracker (messy, to stay polite)) or voted for existing tickets. I didn't waste my time whigning on the forums about them. ;)

It's probably the best graphical spacey type game on the market right now. So what? You have yet to produce anything to negate the fact, that it is a bug ridden mess.

Please, please tell me you are not pinning your argument to steam numbers?

They have delayed, yet again, the release, because there are too many bugs in their game. I challenge you to rebut that.

And just to clarify; I think it's the best decision they are making. Coding anything on top of what we have now is just poor management.

If a bug ridden mess manages to be the biggest selling game of all FDEV franchises (including JWE so far) to date and it manages to continue growing the player base with the best concurrency record in the last 3 years this past December/January then please by all means bring on a few more of these bug ridden messes!

Thank you!

I rather have the bugs worked out and any QoL issue than the fleet carrier. The FC is great and will be fun, but not if just means more problems.

Good decision FDev.(y)

While I have to commend the communities overall positive attitude, this feels like gross project mismanagement dressed up as process improvement, things have felt half done for some time now. The answer shouldn't be "you can have bug fixes but we're delaying new content half a year". :-( If anything wasn't that the point of the first half of the year, it's been slow for a while...

A bug is typically some unexpected result that happens after some code runs. This is working as designed.

Failure of game design? Sure. There are several things in the game that fall in that category. Some would say the entire mode system is a failure of game design. I'd argue the way wings get paid is a failure of game design. If I do a wing mission solo, I should get 4x the pay. Not a bug - but failed logic in the way it was designed. I hope they address it during this downtime.

Designed for being buggy?
Do you think they expected this behaviour by design? :ROFLMAO:

So you can't rebut it. Ok :)

I dont have to: I think the point is that actual facts seem to contradict a bit your "bug ridden mess" qualification. Unless of course your personal definition of "bug ridden mess" includes dev best selling franchises that continue growing their player base after 5 years. In which case we both agree indeed! :)

Ooohhh.... Look at all those tripe-a titles... Oh wait.... There are none!
So the label "AAA" reflects the quality or fun one is getting from the product?

Let me think about AAA-Titles that interessted me NULL:

GTA 5
RDR 1+2
Fallout 4
Battlefield
The whole FIFA-Series
Fortnite

Shall I continue?

I have more fun out of genuine Indies than those so called "Premium" products, that are nothing but iterations of already published products most of the time.

The 100 people are the entire development team for Elite Dangerous. We know that the majority of them is working on the new era stuff since 2018. So there are maybe 20 people working on the current stuff.
We were supposed to get the FC's last year...Delayed. Promise after promise after promise. Big hype for release.....then delay again. Having done the grind for 22 Billion credits was the only thing keeping me in the game. No FC's No Point for the grind. They have released nothing of worth this year so what have they been doing? It certainly wasn't ED development

The elephant in the room is this;

I may be wrong, but the new title is a collaboration to which Frontier will have to prove themselves capable of delivering. To do so, one would imagine, the company would put whatever resources are necessary to achieve that goal.

Again, I may be wrong... In both their collaboration in the new title, and their ability to deliver.... chuckle

Well the only game is his super-duper list that I've played is Elite. I never did buy a game-boy.

But then I might be being unfair... Expecting a triple-a from a company housed in rented premises :)
