What I don't get is FD have been working "Hard" on the "New Era" of Elite: Dangerous for a good while now - Why on Earth can't they say what the focus is? .. I mean, the work is being done, right? people know what they are working on, Hopefully. So why won't they [FD] even drop a hint? ... They must know what it is. As for the delay, It was always coming.

A lot of things in life are about perspective. A few months ago I bought this game on Steam. I dived in with both feet. The learning curve was steep. I made mistakes. Google was exceedingly helpful, except because of the age of the game, it was often not.

I've played for hundreds of hours a month. I'm still learning new things. Seeing new things. I'm not in the same boat as some of you, but here is the thing about perspective.

I paid X US dollars for the game and have spent Y hours enjoying myself. It was money well spent. I got what I paid for.

The last update came with bugs, some blocking. They were fixed in a timely manner.

I'm entitled to nothing else.

Speaking as a day 1 backer, I've played the game for the whole duration, and still do casually to this day. It is very sad to see the game in this state, after it was all looking so well not so long ago. I feel sad that the jolly team - Ed, mike, sandro, have moved on, and now we have nothing in the game which feels like its moving. There was a huge scope to introduce big things, but now I feel like even small things would make a change from the norm. This news feels deflating.

If you had said "Carriers will be in Beta in Dec" then at least the youtubers could play with them and help you solve a few bugs before release. If you had said, "but dont worry, FD are planning an extra special surprise for you this season!", when we wouldnt mind if it was a new type of SRV, or a variety of new plants and fungii to scan.

The galnet news was almost something which was useful, but without a focus on key areas - live combat, mineral finds, exploration, to tie things up, nobody I know uses it. So all the hot tips floating around are on these forums, and not in the game. I feel ED is running out of steam to keep up momentum, and although its fun to troll and roast FD on the forums, its also now affecting the game. So I hope all you complainers about bugs ruining the game are satisfied. I dont want anything to slow down the roadmap, as we could have had a big thargoid story going on by now, and a huge engineering incentive to farm hearts.

seems to be the least they could do. All this talk of "Hard work" while they delay any other meaningful content. They probably want to have an epic BEHOLD.... moment, but that only works if there are still people around to care

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing and continued support and for helping give us the feedback, steer and insight to make decisions that will benefit the entire community and for your continued passion and dedication.

The response to this has been so immature and so salty that I have to chime in to voice my support for Frontier.
I've sporadically played since the launch of Horizons, and it's awesome to me how complex and visually stunning this game is, but even more so, THAT FRONTIER IS STILL WORKING ON IT AND TAKING IT SERIOUSLY. Remember when we used to pay $50 for a non-multiplayer, level-based game that took maybe 40 hours to complete? Ones where the studio might release bugfix patches but usually just moved on? Given that I've only purchased $12 worth of (completely optional!) additional content in the last 4 years I'm amazed and pleased that Frontier generates enough income off of it to pay the infrastructure costs, much less for a development team to produce new content. If you don't like the new ARX implementation, too bad, it's 100% necessary to keep this game operational. If we were paying a yearly subscription I could see some of the attitude but frankly Elite Dangerous is a fantastic value and I look forward to both bug fixes and the new features regardless of timeline.

My only real desire for the game is more story immersion and role-playing mechanics, and yes, I'd be willing to pay for that content.

Now excuse me, I feel like I should go shop for some new ship skins to put my money where my mouth is.

i love the game as well, that’s why I don’t want it to be mismanaged

My problem is that Frontier Devlopments, especially when it comes to Elite: Dangerous, seem to be very reactionary when it comes to their focus (or lack thereof) on this game. You could be led to believe that Frontier Developments must have something magical up their sleeves, But history tells us otherwise.

[IMO] - Frontier have a misguided view that their ideas are so good they don't even have to let the fanbase know what they are aiming for, because (and again IMO) They will love it. Which has quite often turned out not to be the case.

Yeah IF ONLY people hadn't complained about bugs, we would have had a huge developed story and an interesting game loop. Its all because of the forums.

Have you considered that the shrieking mass of critics on social media aren't actually the fanbase?

Yes I have, and that seems to be the basic problem. FD haven't .. The fanbase is who you have to keep happy, because if you don't, anyone looking in from the outside sees that fans of this stuff don't even like it, why on Earth would they?

Yes, that is the working theory of the shrieking critics. They are an active psyop by a dedicated group of bored and angry Star Citizen stans. That has been clear for years.

Yours. It has been forum convention for decades to quote only if you are responding to an older post than the immediately previous one.

Well I think that Star Citizen looks like a bag of "Stuff" and think it is never coming out, so I would like to know how my comment made you think or even summise that I was in some way part of "a dedicated group of bored and angry Star Citizen stans" - My name isn't even Stan! -

And could you now please give me a valid reason as to why you deserve FCs?
The only entitlement we have is to tell Fdev wether we like something or not, there's nothing we can demand from them or tell them they owe us.
Because theyve given us official launch dates twice now. If say for instance, whilst at work you told a customer that a product they purchased or service they had carried out would be ready at a certain time, then delayed for a certain reason, then delayed again for the same reason months and months later... your boss would fire you and the customer would be ed off... not thanking you for whatever you give them. Frontier developments is a joke.

I edit the post.

That is why the fanboys have more than enough time to spread FUD regarding the primary competition.
