"However, we wanted you to be aware that these two elements specifically would be reprioritised out of the upcoming Beyond - Chapter Four update. "

Once again, it was not his priorities.
They even changed a color of the same interface, which they, supposedly, cannot do in 6 years in the hud, because it would change all the colors of the game. Then ,

they even changed it again in days ,those were their priorities.

Greetings Commanders,

Following the launch of the September Update last month, we’d like to provide you all with an update on our plans for Elite Dangerous.

Firstly, thank you for all of your feedback on the September Update, which you've shared with us on the forums, across social media, on livestreams and through the Issue Tracker. There is no doubt that, in addition to the new features, the September Update introduced a number of issues and bugs which caused a lot of frustration. We are really sorry for these issues. We realise that some of the issues had an impact on your ability to enjoy Elite Dangerous. The team have been working hard to address the most critical issues and have already released a series of patches and updates to bring those fixes in as quickly as possible.

However, we know there's more to be done. You've asked for more focus on existing bug/fixes and issues, and for the community to be better integrated into the development process and testing for these upcoming updates.

In order to improve your overall experience, we have decided to refocus our efforts on addressing key issues and bugs. Since the launch of the September Update, we've been taking a deeper look at our internal development roadmap, the way in which we utilise public betas, and the content of our next updates.

Here is a summary of our plans:
  • From now and into next year (2020), the updates will focus almost exclusively on addressing recent and longstanding issues, including those reported in the Issue Tracker, ultimately making the game better.
  • We are expecting to have a series of these updates, which will be rolled out (approximately) every three to four months.
  • Each update will also include a public beta that will run prior to the update's release, with a dedicated time to address major issues that appear.
  • The first of these updates will have its public beta in December, with an expectation that the launch will be early in 2020.
As a result of our updated plans, we have made the difficult decision to defer the release of Fleet Carriers. We are now planning for Fleet Carriers to be released in an update in the second quarter of 2020, rather than in December 2019 as previously stated. This will grant us additional time to refine the feature as well as focusing time on addressing existing reported issues. It will also ensure the state of the game is in a better position to introduce Fleet Carriers, that will provide Commanders even more opportunities to interact with the Milky Way. We understand that this delay will be disappointing for some players, but do know that this decision is one that we do not take lightly, and is made with the best interests of the community and game at heart.

Ultimately, we are confident that this will improve the Elite Dangerous experience for all our players.

The team have been hard at work on the next major milestone, which you may remember we mentioned back in March as our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update. We appreciate there is a bit of a wait, but we want to make sure it is ready to be shown before making our full official announcement to the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing and continued support and for helping give us the feedback, steer and insight to make decisions that will benefit the entire community and for your continued passion and dedication.
So like last year, Fleet Carriers get the shelf. Maybe if you had listened to the community and applied the necessary resource to fix the long standing bugs, then you wouldn't be in this predicament. It's only when the game community is tired of the procrastination that you react and not in a very positive way. How many more times are you going to kick the can down the road while the developers work on other things. TBH I am getting fed up with the big announcements of new content then, like a damp squib it peters out. Get your act together FD before it is too late. A lot of trust is riding on this

Seems to me this is the case. To be honest I find it pretty weird that a company changes its strategics because of an open letter made by the "community".

i think the point is they change strategy because the previous one didn't work. the open letter just pointed that out, like zillions of other user comments, including myself. we're all just messengers.

i might be skeptical just like you, guys, but i don't really see how that can help while we wait and see. i'd prefer to think there is some honesty to this because i know for sure any professional product owner or manager would realize that this is in the product's and the company's best long term interest. let's just assume they are reasonable people! 😊

I respect your opinion but I disagree. It takes so much time and money to level them up that when you lose them, it just makes you wanna stop using them.

Its called consequence dude.

And its the one thing the game is sorely lacking.

The fact that the idea of losing one of them shocks you so much just proves how damn easy we have everything else...

Elite "Dangerous".

But i digress...that is off-topic.

I respect your opinion also but obviously... I disagree with you too.

I'm curious what are these bugs that need fixing so badly that it requires a dev team of over 100 people to spend 6 months fixing?

Panora's Box needs closing, strings of spaghetti code turned into venomous snakes.

Anyways it was obvious after Sept patch that current state of ED wont handle the implementation of something like fleet carriers. I hope FD has something for us to ease all the moans and groans like ROLL OUT THE COBRA MK4 for everyone :D

really?

To me it looks like English just isn't your first language (don't worry, it isn't mine either). 'Reprioritised out of the update' just means it is no longer a priority for the update and has a different priority now. That doesn't mean it has the 'top' priority. You can't call that lying.

After testing every patch since gamma in 2014,I can say this:
Frontier Developments your live service is trash, you dont deserve the faith and goodwill of your community that you squandered over 5year period
Treating ED as a cash cow while developing planet zoo, jurassic world, planet coaster, and lying to us openly how 100 of devs are working on game, and that "content" is coming next XWY quarter for years. And then you add arx,and jack up prices... You will reap what you sow, good luck selling your next "horizons" next year with your pathetic content releases

Being a bit provocative, but fixing bugs in an online game should be business as usual.. So why are people so excited about Fdev doing what they are supposed be doing all along :)
Because over time lots of little things have built up and it seems for the longest time Fdev has had no response so seeing them openly responding now means a lot. Our response a community should be to encourage more of this openness and show the developers that we do in fact value and appreciate communication and are willing to communicate positively with them as long as they do so with us.

I complain a lot. There are things in the game that drive me utterly nuts. I also honestly really like the game even when I'm yelling at my monitor and uninstalling it knowing I'm just going to reinstall it again a week later. There is a lot they can do to improve the game. So many elements that got left to the players to find solutions for that should of been aspects of the game by design. There are core elements that when implemented would increase the value and enjoyment of the time we spend in the game world. I personally am hoping that this is a display of some changes in their thinking and that with the right positive feedback we can encourage them to be more transparent, communicative and interactive with the community and foster a better relationship. Community is more than just the numbers of logins and moneys spent. community is the support for and development of the mutual world we glean our entertainment from. That community, that support cannot grow in a void.

Reading between the lines:

"Yes, we should have had a Beta with the ARX update"

"You introduced so many ideas about Fleet Carriers that we hadn't thought of that we realized we weren't even close to getting them to work in game."

"David Braben found an Open Letter and asked if it was addressed to us." (I won't suggest in whose bin he found it  )

i think the point is they change strategy because the previous one didn't work. the open letter just pointed that out, like zillions of other user comments, including myself. we're all just messengers.
Oh come on, you don't let your customers dictate a strategion for you, or determine when its time to change to another :)

where do you see in my quote that says "out of update"? oh c´mon man, I have provided you with evidences and you don't see it ,after that I can't argue anything else .

if you want have the reason, just take it .

EDITED: OK ,if says that 😂,i couldnt see in first moment.... out of chapter 4 they said, chapter 4 release the past december.

anyway, they lied in those 2 priorities ,How can you not see that were clearly others?

Thank you for your honesty and transparency FDev. If you're truly going to release space legs with the 2020 update, then this delay will be 100% worth the wait!

ps: Given the extent to which Cmndrs were losing their collective minds over the affordability of FCs, THANK YOU for restoring sanity to the forums. 😅

edit: on the second thought, some Cmnders may still need reservations in Bellevue. Seeing they'll be stuck in purgatory for the next 6 months driving themselves crazy over FC affordability.....😂
