Completing Zoo Tycoon 2: How far we've come?

I'm not even sure other gorillas are actually kept in captivity. I know the mountain gorilla isn't. Is the Cross River gorilla? Or Eastern lowland?

Edit: a quick Google tells me there are (or recently were) two elderly eastern lowland gorillas at Antwerp Zoo but that's it.

At least with different giraffe species and subspecies you can be sure there's a precedent for including them.
Only one left at Antwerp now, the other one died a few years back.

I'm not certain it's a salient point either way. No way a second gorilla is important to include.
that isnt the point of the post the post is looking at zoo tycoon and comparing what animals are still left to add in planet zoo doesn't matter if they are important animals just that they are from zoo tycoon and not in planet zoo

So, I noticed we are very very close to completing the roster of Zoo Tycoon 2 (fully marine and extinct animals not included).

Edit: Changed lists format
Many of them are definitely necessary for me. Japanese Serow not that much but it would definitely be useful for the Entrance Area of my japanese Zoo, where I keep all of the native Species.
Would be fine though if they exclude the Animals that aren't kept in any Zoos (and especially if we someday get a Marine Pack, if they would exclude the ones that can't even be kept in Zoos at all)

Sure, and this super versitale generic wolf also covers middle east wolves and such.

And were/did these subspecies counted as missing from Zoo Tycoon 1 list too? African leopard (spotted) and Asian rainforest leopard subspecies (as black). I could tell by their location and biome in that game.
And going by their scientific names as listed in the game, they're generic leopards.

Yeah, but so is the Arctic wolf and, depending on how y'all view it, the dingo. The Mexican wolf looks different than the standard gray wolf
A lot of wolf subspecies (and a lot of subspecies in general) look different from what we have in game... it's one of the big problems with trying to use a generic model to cover an entire species.

Come on guys, nobody likes the generic grey wolf implementation in PZ, but officially the gray wolf and all it's subspecies is covered in the game.

I agree. But the most obvious one is the gray wolf, unfortunately, and I still think it should be renamed. It's a simple rename, that's all, and I'm surprised it hasn't been done

Unfortunately, you're right

Technically untrue. It's an incredibly messy animal.

It is generic, but it does not cover every subspecies. It only covers boreal subspecies according to its in-game distribution map. I would check the exact areas but mine's modded to be more specific now.

Edit: And then, to make matters even uglier, the Zoopedia description goes on to describe 38 subspecies.

The map covers the entire range, down to india, arabia and mexico. The biomes don't
