I do not really understand computing, could you give me some examples?

Does this makes sense?

If it has the A8 5550M processor that will be about as good as you'll get for the kind of money you're talking about. It should be able to cope with the game on low settings.

Some of the replys here are misleading and do not answer the OPs question.

If you want to run elite long term on a laptop then you will indeed need a dedicated GPU and a decent CPU.

As a short term solution, Elite will run on a 'basic' laptop - the settings and performance just won't be very good. Expect low detail and FPS.

Anything with an i3 and Intel HD graphics 4000+ should run the game, but like I said, don't expect great performance.

I play on a Dell inspiron 17" with a core i 3 a Intel HD4000 and 8 Gig Ram on Win10 for 450€ preinstalled was Win8.
It gets a bit hot and loud somtimes but it Works

I play on an A8 6600k, r7 250, low budget rig, plays anything I throw at it 30-60fps 1600x900.

bought it about 6 months ago off ebay, £300, probably get the same bundle for under 250 now i would think. i bought the gpu separate, has a bit more kick than the built in 8750 or whatever the gpu part of the apu is..

Is this similar to the lenovo g505s specs?

umm i think my a8 6600 is about on par with an i3, but the intergrated gpu is equal to a 7750 i think, it natively crossfires with a 6670. and my r7 250 is basically a newer version of the 6670 a low power card decent clock speeds for 65w little bit less powerful than a 7770. although it has mantle ofc because its an r7.

i wouldn't pick up this rig if it was over £250, i mean you can get i5 bundles these days pretty cheap and those processors are great for games.

this is basically what i got off ebay, not this exact offer but a similar one by the same company, note the power supply is a no name thing and definately worth replacing along with the stock cooler. but anyway.

LINK

i already had a monitor so it was a steal for me at the time. shop around might find a better deal. the only problem i have with it is with a dedicated gpu it blocks the other pci slot so matx mobos not that great if you want a network card.

ah crap you want a laptop, well good luck with that, i can't recommend any because well, they are just over priced if you want it for gaming, laptops and gaming in the same sentence, blasphemy!

honestly speaking that one you picked should run it just fine i don't see any reason why it wouldn't plenty of ram, it has an r5 might force you into low settings. problem with laptops over desktops they sacrifice a lot for compact and mobility. you end up paying more for an overall less powerful system. for a decent gaming laptop your looking at sinking over £500 to get a laptop with the same performance as a £300 desktop.

No it's slower than the 4550M.

I don't understand the link, what that all means?

That's the graphics on the 4550M, the 7640G.

The best thing to do is search youtube for that - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=7640g+gaming

As you can see, it's more than capable of running games on low settings. Elite won't be a problem mostly but it might get a bit slow in asteroids and stations.
