So what is GPU and can i upgrade the graphics cards etc

See told you time for everyone to have a laugh

Basically this means that you have a dual-core CPU with IGP. You max resolution is 1366x768. So may be this would allow you to have 15fps.

Corsair Graphite 600T
MB: ASUS Maximus Ranger
CPU: i7 4790k
Processor Cooler: Corsair H100i
RAM: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 Mhz
GPU: ASUS GTX 780
SSD: Samsung 840 Series EVO 250 GB

doesnt sound too good when everyone is saying 60fps is needed

To be fair, 30+ FPS is needed, 60 is great - anything above that is not seen unless your display can go above 60.

It's "playable" on kit as rubbish as an AMD E-350 at absolute minimum everythings - it's just so much nicer to have everything maxed out and looking tasty :) And that requires significantly more horsepower.

Aye! Mind you, I'm no expert - but the IGP is the main problem, I think.
As for new kit - I've had to save, scrounge and borrow in order to build a new machine.

That makes sense IGP

Well if its in built thats a new processor needed so new laptop as you stated.

I need to wait for the Devs to fix the render issue which is stopping me getting past the mission select screen then i will see what is what when i finally get to play the game but thanks for the info

If you do get a new laptop - make sure it's not a rubbish one!

Go to PC World or Best Buy or Asda / Walmart or whatever, look around, and 99% of laptops you'll see advertise all these great specs, and at first glance it seems they will run Elite fine.

99% of the time they won't.

If money is tight, just build a cheap box around a Haswell i5, 8Gb, and 120Gb SSD. Upgrade to a graphics card when money becomes less tight. You'll have a far more fun time playing!

Guys to be honest you are talking an alien language, i know where the on/off switch is :D

current model is a toshiba satallite c660 which i thought was ok but ....

I'm not going to say anything about Toshiba - but they used to make the best laptops on earth.

I can play Elite perfectly well on my MacBook Air - so a similar hardware config should work from any other manufacturer. The thing is - the peeps who make laptops deliberately cut things in ordinary ones to make them rubbish in order for you to buy the flagship model.

I'm not suggesting you buy a new Air to play Elite - it's kind of expensive and you have to buy Windows too - but taking that hardware as a minimum you ought to find something close but cheaper - but you have to look at the real specs.

I know for a fact it doesn't run well on a Lenovo T440 - a machine costing nearly 100% more than the Air.

I'd really stick with building a cheap (and tiny) desktop.
