Computer feminization

Though there are a very real physical difference between males and females, what is there to say that there cant be mental/psychological differences aswell.

No matter the case, though, I tend to expect us humans to act well above primlitive and instinctual behaviour due to our evolved intelligence and in principle we could adapt just and rational ideas over primitive and traditional ones.

There should be no reason for a male fighter pilot to acknowledge female voices over male, but IF he does for whatever reason, its better to put a female voice in the ships warning system.

I never said there was no difference between males and females. There obviously are some pretty clear ones. Gender is what I was talking about.

If you have a voice that sounds female, and a voice that sounds male... what's the difference? Nothing.

Physiology is something completely different. Sex is completely different. Gender is a made up thing.

Sometimes see him is his pub... will ask him next time.

Hehe, that would be awesome. Gandalf, Magneto.. then the voice of the Lakon Type 9!

Actually the nerd in me kinda wants him and Patrick Stewart as Imperial NPCs of high rank. Stewart because he was an awesome Gurney Halleck, and McKellen because .. why not.

If it's clarity of voice we need then may I suggest this man ...

We might need to have our hearing checked at every station though :)

Don't think anybody has mentioned K.I.T.T. yet. Think I'd get sick of his voice after a while though, it's a bit whiny.

K.A.R.R. was a bit more business like and might suit a military setting.

Also by the way Ground Proximity Warning Systems etc in real life are male voices (as far as I know no female ones).

I'm not advocating one or the other here based on sex, all comes down to tone of voice or even accent for me.

He kinda looks like the actor who played Prince Vultan in the 80ies rendition of Flash Gordon. Sign me up for that voice :D

The voice actor for KITT died a few years ago though, didn't he?

'tis indeed Mr Brian Blessed.

Mad as a bucket of frogs. He'd be a great voice.

He kinda looks like him because it is him "GORDON'S ALIVE !!!!!!" :D

Wait, he's Brian Blessed? No wonder he was familiar in Privateer 2 then

But if we get him for the computer, we need the woman with the russian accent for some stations "Send out war rocket Ajax, to bring back his body" *FLASH! Haaaa*

Aside from the deeply disturbing psychological "issues" aired very publicly in this thread...

I see nothing wrong with having you choosing the voices you want to hear inside your own ship.. It'd be a great way to personalize the ship to your liking.

But in reality, I would love to have a wide variety of voices imposed on the player from the outside. It doesn't make sense that a player can decide what voices he wants to hear from a station. I mean, can you imagine docking with port Zelada, and demanding from the docking crew "I will only talk to a man!" ?
For example, in an imperial station or ship I'd like to hear somewhat ceremonial and aloof accents, either male or female. Variety is good. If you went to a very technical science base, I imagine a non-ceremonial and highly technical language and tonality (Vulcan). Or simply synthetic voices, similar to Hawking.

Oh, and the OP is lying by stating that all voices in the game are female. Selection bias at work here I suspect.

I just think it's way premature to judge the game for having primarily female voices. I'm sure there will be a greater variation down the road.

That was my thoughts. :D What movie is that from?

Well said, my friend.

So back on topic. Can we replace Betty with this guy?

gottfried-problem-child-21.jpg

Or 'How Elite Dangerous Self Destructed With Bad Voice Casting...'

Can we just replace Betty with someone who actually has a clue about what they're supposed to be doing? Don't care if it's a man or woman just someone professional and switched on!

Oh, wasn't aware of that. I do of course refer to the original K.I.T.T. not the Val Kilmer voiced poor reboot.

I'd have the horrors of KITT telling me there's a hair out of place or my supplies of smugness are running low... Ugh... No... please... no...
