Console Copy Portal : 'Database Error' [RESOLVED]

At the moment I’d say don’t touch too much and let it do it’s thing o7 (Sorry I really shouldn’t be here but I’m being a right…clingy thing).
There are some, as I mention, things you can’t log into but sit tight and let’s see how you go. Here to help tomorrow if anything is awry o7
Soooo.... it let me choose my original CMDR name, so it must have been my correct account.. and the copy process says it's finished....

Buttt... I load up steam, launch ED, choose Odyssey... and....
Nothing... it wants me to create a new user!

I fixed the problem...

Long story short XD needed to change which email account with Fdev was linked to my Steam... anyways, ITS WORKING!!!

Buttt... Cargo vapor, lanzo ED, elijo Odyssey... y....
Nada... quiere que cree un nuevo usuario!
te ocurre lo mismo que a mi... o no reconoce el odyssey o te manda crear uno nuevo...... mejor esperar a mañana
 
Greetings Commanders.

With the release of the 'Console Copy Portal' we are seeing reports of several of you hitting continuous 'Database Error' when attempting to complete the process.

This is currently looking to be due to potentially linked to one of two issues:
  • One being the fact that your desired Commander name is potentially taken and the error isn't triggering (because you're moving through the process quite quickly).
    • I can't believe I'm typing this but whatever helps at this point: Try and slow down a little with moving between steps at this very busy time. This could help.
  • Another resolution could be ensuring Javascript is enabled.

We have identified an issue on web side which could very well be the primary beast in the mix, if none of the above solve your issue.
We need to roll out a fix for this which is due to be embedded in the portal in a round an hour. Please do try again at around 19:00 BST.

My carrier still has not finished the decommission process I started a week ago! Help! Really want to get this transfer done!

Is anyone else having issues with logging into your console account on xbox? when i select the Xbox button on the portal it jsut says "Cannot retrieve your Commander information." i cant even log in to start the process

Can't say I'm aware of anyone else having this issue...
Support ticket is the way to go for you I suspect..
 
Refueled a couple of carriers already. And I did it on pc. To all Frontier crew and moderators, thank you so much for making me smile like a child again. Yes, sometimes we can be mad about certain things but today Frontier, you have proven once again that you are worth it. Buying Odyssey when the next paycheck drops.
 
My transfer worked like a charm.
Got the queued email at 1:52am and 10 minutes later i went to bed. At 2:!4am got the confirmation email that the copy process finished.

Just a minor hiccup, i left the transfer page open and this morning the link to download the installer was expired.
I logged into the frontierstore account and could not find Elite Dangerous added there.
When i was preparing to open a support ticket, i thought to refresh the page and, voila!, the link worked and i could download and install Horizons
 
Interesting... yea I would try again in a few hours...
I was getting name in use and database errors, until about an hour ago. (Eastern Coast of Canada here)

Finally they both cleared when I tried Firefox from my phone, Firefox being a browser I absolutely don't save any passwords ect, so I launched it, cleared all cache, history ect in app, then cleared the app cache and data of the app itself on my android (making it like new install), relaunched Firefox, and tried, it worked immediately.

If you've done similar already, then I'd leave it for a few hours and try again.

Chrome, absolutely would not work, on my phone or pc, probably too many cookies ect that weren't cleared because Google likes to try to keep things for ease of use... but yea, I tried PC, then android chrome, both failed, immediately did Firefox, and it worked...
So yea, try that, or wait, or go thru support, but they won't respond until tomorrow I'm guessing
OK, tried this again just now this morning. Same thing, database error. Tried it the way you did it on my phone via Firefox and even Bing browsers, same thing.

So don't know why this thread title is marked as RESOLVED because it clearly isn't.

I am trying to transfer now but am getting the message 'A database error has occurred when starting the copy process.' when I confirm! So not resolved?
 
Just tried again on Mac in Safari and same error message. I am using my Frontier console account login as a new PC login as the instructions said you could do that - not sure if that is causing an issue.

Probably that's causing the issue.
You should use a new frontier account (or an existing account) that is completely different from your console account

That's what I'm doing, a new frontier account/different email completely seperate to my console account/email. Constant database error.

try a different commander name?
(like for example altering a letter or adding one in case you dont want a completely new cmdr name?)
