Coriolis.io - A new ship builder and comparison tool

It is correct in corolios.io - but in your opening post in this thread you give the Fed dropship an armour value of 300 and a manoeuvrability 0 + giving it a cost of 25 millions.
That might put some people off :p

Oops! I didn't update the post after I had corrected values in Coriolis. Fixed! (The price is 25 million because of the build)

I notice, at least with the Vulture, that putting in the different class thrusters does not correctly update on the site to show the new top speed. I don't know how you calculate this data, is it base don numbers from Frontier or player input? If the latter is there any way we can submit data to help improve the site?

Did you find a way to replicate the issue I reported above on Safari? It should be an easy fix, hopefully.

Sort of? :S

I'm guessing you have the OSX setting System Preferences -> General -> Show Scroll bars: always

I'm turned this setting on, but it doesn't cause the overlap issue you have (it just decreases/pads the document on the right to fit the scroll bar). I am going to increase padding anyway (there is not enough padding on mobile displays anyway). Which will mitigate this issue, but not actually solve your problem. Update will come later tonight!

P.S. I really do appreciate the bug reporting, screenshots, etc. Stuff like this really helps!

YES! There is a way to help!

Right now the data is simply hardcoded based off the in-game shipyard values. The mathematical formula is not known. However, with enough data, we could model it fairly accurately (unless some nice, wonderful FD Dev cares to give us the formula... hint hint...).

There is a Github issue tracking this

I made a forum post and Reddit post asking for help.. But haven't got much to show for it yet :'(

I'm using the following Google Doc Form to gather data.

The data is publicly viewable in this Google Doc Spreadsheet

There is also another forum post (it has gone a bit stale) with some initial, but as yet, inaccurate attempts at modeling ship speed.

Actually I don't have that setting on. I'm using "Show scroll bars: Automatically based on mouse or trackpad".
That's what is odd about this because Coriolis is now creating that lower scrolling bar that didn't use to.

Duh! I know what the issue is... I'm a numpty... :S I'll and update soon!

Another detail I wanted to ask you is why have you changed the order of the sections? They are currently Standard, Internal, Hardpoints and Utility. But shouldn't they be Hardpoints, Utility, Standard and Internal? That's how it's displayed in-game in Frontier's outfitting interface. Would make it more intuitive and in line with what is found in the game.

Also, sorry to insist, but what is your opinion concerning this? Just trying to understand why the order was changed.

Because I thought this looked better:

Than this:

:p

If people feel that the latter is more intuitive, then I am more than happy to go with it!

I agree that it looks a bit better, on computer at least since on phones the interface is different and it looks good either way.
However I do think that the latter is more intuitive to muscle memory from outfitting in the game. This is just my opinion though not sure what others think.

Good to know, I will start collecting and submitting data. I assume you want to know the top speed in a straight line from 0? Do you want the top speed from a single boost or from successive boosts (ie the true top speed) as that can be higher.

Top Speed = Throttle to full, acceleration has stopped, straight-line
Boost Speed = Absolute max speed achieved with multiple boosts (true top boost speed)

Just released 1.0.2 which addresses you issue I hope!

Hello Colin, coriolis is becoming better and better: I pass more time on it than playing :D
BTW I've noticed a new behaviour after the last update: on mobile (iPhone) you cannot "throw to scroll fast" anymore like before. I mean, now you can just drag the site to scroll it. Is it an intended behaviour?
Thanks, and keep on with the awesome work!

I've just used this for the first time, having been a user of the EDShipyard for some time. Your tools seems easier/faster to use, and seems to provide much more data to make it useful (eg power drain based in module priorities). Well done!

Was using ed shipyard, than switched to coriolis, but constant UI updates, switching UI elements back and forth, up and down, modules being on the left side, now on the right side, useless retrofit costs, etc.. Can someone please make up his mind?
