Correcting some misinformation about unlocking Terra Velasquez

When i started doing this unlock I read a lot of contradictory information about what is actually required. Now, it is possible the unlock requirements were changed at some point, so i'm talking about the current situation. A lot of people claim you need to do 6 covert heists AND 6 covert thefts. Some people say covert thefts are bugged and don't always count. This may still be the case.

However, i can confirm that doing 6 covert heists is all you need to do.

The description which reads "Complete 6 Covert theft and Covert heist missions" is not clear.

My guess is it should be either "Complete 6 Covert theft or 6 Covert heist missions" or "Complete any combination of 6 Covert theft or Covert heist missions" - the former might lead people to think that 3 heists plus 3 thefts would not unlock, it has to be 6 of one or the other.

Since covert thefts might still not be counting, my advice, go directly to doing 6 covert heists. If you get the right base then its not really much harder than a theft anyway and fairly quick and simple. The main difference being the 3 minute timer while the sample unit unlocks. Just make sure you silently take down any workers whose path takes them near the sample unit, and you can even AFK while its happening.

TL;DR - to unlock Terra Velasquez just do 6 covert heists.

For me it's gonna be WAAAAAAY quicker to forget Terra Velasquez altogether, wait for U9 to clear, get my new SRV's, then go over to Colonia & open up the Engineers there........as I already have their requirements stored in my Ship ;)

I'm sticking with the bubble ones since don't want to go out to Colonia to do everything.

It does mean i've got fiancial projects to collect (not too bad, already have some) for one engineer and on another branch the dreaded settlement development plans... i'm hoping FD are doing something about those in update 9.

Yeah, that also fits 6 of either, which is what I understand is what support said. I did 7 thefts and 3 heists before it unlocked, which supports both the claim that it's 6 of either and that thefts are buggy.

Yup, that fits, which is why i put the note about thefts potentially being bugged and my advice just to stick to heists.

The main point is, you don't need to do 12 missions, 6 of each, which is what some people claim.

You see, the words 'stealth' & 'covert' though I understand the meanings, in Odyssey I find it almost impossible to do.
Stomping around in my size 15 clodhoppers is the best that I'v achieved so far :ROFLMAO:.
Unless a future update comes with a 'Cloaking Device', I'll take the easier option & wander over to Colonia to finish off my upgrades.........before Frontier change those requirements;)

Alternatively, if you want to do it without kills, look at the patrolling routes of the NPCs, and time the activation so that the container opens when they are not around or are looking away.
The patrolling routes are regular and predictable, unless something happens: you can obviously alter the time by causing distractions or just standing in their path to listen to any rude remarks they have to make!

At first i did badly, but with a bit of practice, its not that hard.

The base i was hitting the worker would be near the container about once a minute. No choice with that one, had to take him out. Can't ensure i can time him not being in the area when it opens.

And besides, there's something satisfying about sending a ton of electricity through NPCs. :D

I only recently unlocked Terra, which would have been by completing 6 theft missions.

I also thought it could be a combination of both, but it doesn't appear so.

Good thinking material, OP. (y)

One minor but fairly important point is that missions from concourse NPCs wont count. They've been bugged since Odyssey released and wont flag as "completed" as far as the game is concerned. They give the correct rewards but if you look at your Inara quest log (or your journal files I guess) they always show as expired because the game doesn't set the correct mission completion flag.

Oh FDev...

I unlocked her June 13th and I really had to do 6 of each. Or maybe I just did that 6th covert heist last, I can't check that anymore.
