what is legitimately? by biology or by someone saying? you know just because someone may not be married dorsn't makes it less your child. Biology gives a brown stemaing pile of biowaste about mankinds weird claims.
But humans usually are very interested in such things. It's human made up rules about what other humans are allowed to do and how they are allowed to do it. Serious stuff.
Genealogy is something quite a lot consider very important and really serious - especially if it is used to gate power and wealth.
