Could griefers be turned into a feature?

Quoting the Pilots' Federation Origins

"Gradually, the pilots' federation grew to encompass a great many pilot-owners and their ships. It also provided an element of respectability as the the itinerate nature of their life styles had started to bring suspicion amongst planet-siders ~ where the lack of accountability of space farers brought about by their ability to simply move on to a different system before the law caught up with them gave them a bit of a reputation as cowboys or thieves in certain places. The pilots' federation would not tolerate dishonourable behaviour amongst its members, and so such members would wear the PF's logo with pride ~ earning them a little respect in their dealings, and an antidote to the cowboy image."

I'm going to send an quantum entangled ~ in an instant ~ crypto message to the Pilots' Federation and suggest that gankers be stripped of their rank, that all privileges to adorn the badge of the federation be removed from them, see if that will snap them out of this space madness, into which many of the commanders seem to have fallen.

We’ve been sending quantum entangled messages to the Federation (in care of FDev) in the form of suggestion posts via this forum for around ten years. They’ve been almost entirely unresponsive and when they are, the messages are terse and vaguely defensive, so either the quantum tunnels collapsed or the PF’s back room powers-that-be changed some key bits in the non-public documents without updating the members. You may be up against some very powerful hidden agendas with a lot of dark money and other resources, so watch your six, Commander!

But do let us know if you manage to get through!

In the meantime (and more seriously), I run into a lot more people in the Mobius group than I do in Open. None of them try to kill me, and most will actually interact! 🙂 Also, if you haven’t explored it yet, I think you might enjoy the Features of Elite > Lore & Roleplay sub forum.

That's the paradox of all this. While ostensibly allowing all kinds of interactions, Open in practice renders many of them too risky. It's in a PvE environment that people really open up, chat and cooperate. In Open one can't let one's guard down.

I've found that AX locations are quite amicable lately in Open, but that's done by making the arrangements only on Discord so that most of the griefers don't find out, and blocking the few determined ones which turn up.

Thank you for the heads up, I think you are right about the sub forum, I'm heading over there to check it out now.

To the issue at hand, I am genuinely fascinated by the problem and do believe that I could write a solution, that said I'm sure that the devs will be chucking at that and that I am woefully underestimating the problem in my naivety. The thing is that the protocol that I'm working on, still only in its conceptual stage, I've long had in the back of my mind that it would be a good mechanic within a game engine.

Only time will tell on that score though, and I could not care less where it gets tested, I'm more interested by the protocol itself, and the reality that it models and the science that that represents.

The thought occurs, does FDev really hold much sway with The Pilots' Federation? They are surly only care takers after all, perhaps the message needs only be sent in the correct universe, and to the proper place? \o/
