Could or should Frontier enhance the FSS or add in and incorporate an optional ADS-like expansion module?

Apparently those who persist are "inmature", oh well, I can certainly say you are inmature under such a silly criteria given your stay here.
Never said I was mature. I’m mainly here for the salt, since our battle was won long ago, and standing up for the people here who talk actual sense.

You don’t care about the fss or exploration? Please the door is over there.
Oh I do care, but I’m happy with the way things are now. I enjoy the FSS in its entirety. Combines exploration with something that sort of feels like real astronomy (which I also enjoy).

I don’t whinge about things I can’t ever change. I either keep playing or move on. Perhaps it’s you who needs to be shown the door?

So how would reinstating the old functionality affect you?

I don’t support “easy button” system mapping. Everyone should have the same restrictions. If it takes me 2-3 minutes to create a full system map in unexplored space, it should take you the same amount of time. That’s just fair.

The ADS gave you that map without really playing for it. People shouldn’t be at a disadvantage because they prefer gameplay to get something.

They changed fleet carriers to be solo player possibly because we whinged. Not sure how that turned out though so that might not have been the best :)

Yeah it might be a combination of leaving hooks and bait in the water in case the frontier fish does come along in combination with expressing the sourness that being presented with a panning cookie clicker in elite dangerous immediate inspires. The best of us are of course willing to put it aside as not our taste and move on, but we can’t in game. Hence the threads keep coming up.

In reality.. for a more liberal developer it would be a no brainer but for not brave and non flexible frontier it’s too hard.. they’ve designed themselves into bigger problem.. see they didn’t actually just turn the ads off.. they designed completely new solution including an (arguably redundant) state that eclipses over the game features the old ads provided. So they need to get their own heads out of that knot which frontier haven’t proved nimble enough to do.... ever? Also as people effected by other topics are stating their own grievances since frontiers latest pr gem, this would also require breaking a hallowed and religiously followed convention of never touching a feature again regardless of the issue unless the update work is marketed as a major patch.

That’s all we have from our side anyway.

I don’t think they’re really experiencing any problem at all with regards to FSS implementation and refusal to bring back the ADS. Sales are still climbing steadily, as the various financial reports they release show, and some of the handful of protesters are still here, generating forum traffic, so how exactly are they hurting over this?

If you can get the system map faster than me, then you’re bypassing intended gameplay to gain an advantage. That’s commonly referred to as an “exploit”. It enables you to cherry-pick systems. If we’re both exploring in the same territory, that would definitely be upsetting to me if you had already identified and claimed every anomalous planetary configuration. I don’t like that.

So this exploit, how much of an advantage would it give, in your view?

The intended gameplay was to get credits and tags faster? Didn’t you watch the livestream and subsequent demonstrations on how to use the fss by frontier themselves?

The only people that like it are the above demographic and people in a woeful existence of as long as the ads is there I’ll take anything and go parallax exploring.

There were minor rumblings in the beta, mostly Burke’s nonsense until he let slip that he wasn’t even in the beta and his credibility evaporated. Nothing like the madness that came about when AX missiles got nerfed, or when the Dove Enigma got lulzbunnied.

Dont make me laugh. For starters just to clear up any confusion by anybody i have to the best of my knowlage started only one thread about the FSS and that was in the feedback forum before it was in game telling them please not to destroy exploration. My credibility? I called the thing right from the moment i saw it. Its flawed in its design, its unplesant to use. The little faction that managed to get rid of the ADS... didnt i say the moment i saw it that it must have been the result of troll feedback? All they managed to do is ruin a game and make fdev look stupid. Where is the credibility in that? One day fdev are gonna wake up to how gullible they have been.

Pretty big, considering how much system cherry-picking I’ve seen in the past.

Hmm. See this is where the argument usually starts to fall apart.

In order to take advantage of any improvement in system scan time the player needs to get back to sell the data. The actual amount of time taken to scan a system is seconds or minutes. Time to return from it is going to be in hours or days even if the player immediately returns from the target system.

So not really an exploitable exploit.

Guess he’s not “protesting” with you.

Allitnil is pretty much top explorer i think. I hope i didnt miss anybody :)

At some point around the day the FSS arrived he made a post saying that was it basicly his exploration is over. I dont know if thats how it still is but i think he still posts so maybe he can bring his opinion here or you can ask him directly.

More wild hyperbole and arm-flailing from you. At least you’re consistent.

You didnt actually counter anything i said tho did you? Looking back, do you feel like the changes made to exploration specifically the FSS really made the game better or increased its longevity? Answer honestly, no silly business about salt. Imo it just doesnt look good. How the hell did it manage to get in game like that with most of the players having no warning at all? Debacle is the word. Its been made so much worse by the refusal to budge over it aswell.

Edit: Its a fair critisism to say i have been vocal about it tho. But if i remember right when people first started to complain about it some forum participants responded by trying to shout them down and make it a non issue and everybody should just shut up and go away was kind of the impression i got. Thats bullying. Made it easy to be persistant knowing you have the moral high ground :)
