If it is a tournament set up by the Federation to encourage pilots to pit their skills against each other, then it sounds to me as though they have already included it into the lore.

Just because you say something is 'your opinion' doesn't stop it being insulting to the people who have spent a lot of time and effort trying to make something they can be proud of, especially without even offering a good reason for your apparent hatred of it's inclusion other than 'your opinion' that it doesn't belong there.

So you're part of the 'Elite is perfect no matter what Frontier do' crowd are you ? You're one of those. Oh well.
I never said nothing should be allowed to change. I don't consider Elite Dangerous to be an arcade game but I do consider CQC as one.
It would be like mixing oil and water having those two worlds collide. I don't think it would go down well either.
In the original Elite you couldn't land on planets but that's not even the point. You could in Elite II Frontier though. I don't need your sarcasm.

'A tournament set up by the Federation' is a weak excuse for integration imo. In the main game when your ship gets destroyed, obviously that cannot be the end of your game forever as that would be silly. So they made out like you ejected, got home safe and bought a new ship.
In CQC it's constant ship kills and re-spawns. What sadistic mind is going to set up a tournament like that ? This isn't Saw in space.

Oh please don't give me the 'time and effort' sob story. No-one is belittling what Frontier have achieved here. It is because of my love for Elite (since playing the original) that I am vocal when it comes to CQC integration. I have no issues with CQC on it's own. I'm sure it provides hours of aimless fun for many which is great. I just see no reason for the CQC ranking to appear in the main core game and I think that's a bad decision. If someone is offended or insulted by that then so be it. I am allowed my opinion and FD well know you can't please everyone.

Hmmm i just tried to update the game and my anti virus(panda) says it is an infected file.. ERR WHAT!

So i did it again(and again) same result, it says the client installer is infected...with a virus.. hmm Glitch anti virus or...GULP!

Just putting it out there- as i know anti virus can be "over protective" and view some updates as a direct threat

fly safe and stay virus free... use Agrimeds!

If so, then there should be a way to optionally remove it in the options menu.
I wouldn't call CQC a legitimate way to play Elite Dangerous. I do see it as a sub-game that has it's merits and sits just fine on the main menu as an option (perhaps to those who are out exploring in the void and miss the rush of combat).

I just upgraded the entertainment system in my trusty Diamondback Explorer with a nifty CQC system to have something to do when thousands of light years away from home. Currently it requires me shutting down my ship to play, which seems a bit harsh. I wish the developers would integrate the CQC Entertainment System more fully with the other electronics in my ship and allow quick switching to CQC (and back again when something happens in real Elite life, such as finally reaching that million ls distant star that Universal Cartographics wanted me to scan).

I am sure you just copy & pasted the change log, but why is the word "Various" crossed out? Why not just delete the word? To put strikethrough on it actually requires bbcode, and suggests it was done on purpose ... so I have to satisfy my curiosity and ask ... why?

And boy, having been away from this forum for the last few months i shouldn't have read further through this thread.
Still people complaining about everything, about an icon even.

I always figured an Elite community would be all adult men who played in their childhood. I think it's mostly kids. Who else is not at work at this hour? Save for a few who may not have a job, are sick or have time off. Apologies to them.

Just be thankful that you can sit safely at home and play at all.

To put things in perspective for some of you....I'll be happy if they've fixed the bug that's prevented me logging into the 1.4 beta for the last ten days. ;)
