Crazy low fps when docking at a station or carrier, the second time during a game session

Hey everybody. I don't know if anyone is experiencing this. I'll load up the game, docked on my carrier at 60fps /station at 30+ fps . So I leave, and go do whatever i want for that session. The moment I go back and dock the fps drops below 20, and no matter what I do it never goes back up unless I leave the station. Its starting to really me off because why can I run at good fps when I load in but the moment I come back, it drops to below 20. Even simply approaching the carrier/station tanks my fps for no reason. my CPU usage is at ~85%, but my GPU usage will be maxed out at 100%. Running a combination of medium low settings on on AMD RX6600 8GB VRAM, I have attached a picture with the Low FPS mentioned below.

I've had this on the odd occasion. No idea what causes it. Its so rare its not really possible for me to try and pin it down to anything specific.

Additional: Just updated to the latest nvidia drivers this morning. Now experiencing low FPS in stations.

Could be related?

GPU going crazy.

EDIT: oh, now its decided to do low FPS even in supercruise.

Ok, a reboot of the comp fixed it all.

If you're getting low FPS because of a driver update, try rebooting, see if that helps.

Yes, here are two other threads on it:

I'm getting really weird game freezes since PP 2.0 launched. i7 10700 RTX 2060 32 Gb Ram. Even had a hard crash yesterday (memory exception error.) I've played with Riva tuner stats turned on, and nothing maxes out to indicate a bottleneck. GPU usage 56% CPU usage 21% GPU temp 56c CPU temp 58c frame rate capped at 60 FPS. GPU memory usage NEVER goes above 5Gb (6 Gb card.) Even checked windows event viewer (Diagnostic performance) and there are no desktop video over utilisation messages.

I did a DDU graphics driver wipe, and installed the best driver for the RTX 2060, same problem. I even get occasional freezes in super cruise. I've checked my session logs, no error or warning messages. I tried Horizons live and even got a few janky moments in that version. I'm loving PP2.0 but this issue is a real immersion killer.

What resolution do you play at?

Have you turned on FSR in the graphics options?

1080P FSR is set to normal/off I've reduced graphics settings to medium/low still getting the janky problem. Pretty sure it's server side, or something in the code doesn't like NVidia cards.

same thing here, new windows installation and i also downgraded my drivers. Going to try updating the AMD drivers to the new version, which I don't really want to do since the newer drivers that I used would crash the game randomly.

I've also had these nasty stutters since the last updates. At first I thought it was only in open mode or with other Players, but I have it in solo play too. It's not the graphics card or the driver, and there's no background activity at these moments. I checked it and had a log written. Unfortunately, changing the resolution or setting everything to low doesn't help.
This is just bad code from the game. It's really bad.

I'm having the exact same experience as Afterglow. Nvidia 2070 Super with 8GB in an Alienware i7 with 32GB. Started with 2.0 and got worse, especially with crashing when it was always rock-solid prior. I too thought it was due to multiplayer, but it happens in solo. I have 2k hours in this MMO, very disappointing.

Same here on Linux / Nvidia. Steam had "bad decision" so all games had FPS tanked in 30 mins. But I fixed that already, every game works ok (even gathering grass on Elite is 55-60 fps now, which I never saw before in Ody), except docking carrier. Than I see numbers like 5-8-14 fps.
And I'm 50000 ly away from the closest station / players, so it is not dependent on.
