Where do we go when the NPCs grief us
I've never been griefed by an NPC. NPC pirates are just moms and dads struggling to feed their children. I almost feel bad for them when I don't have any cargo and they just sulk away all dejected.

Ive been griefed 3 times by NPCs, the last one he killed me while I stood motionless while in another room, I think alot of humans would have noticed I made no effort to move and maybe leave me be for a bit, and another almost killed me twice in a row, some humans leave you at 4 % hull cos they feel guilt, these NPCs just dont care
In fairness, some things are even more painful than getting ganked by the aforementioned lead character from a popular magical book series.

A random murder is par for the course in Open if you ask me. Thats kind of what you sign up for.. Not everyone will 'initiate' or engage in respectful roleplay. Thats what I enjoy about it, what I like to call the DayZ effect.
What happened to OP happened to me on the day after PS4 launch, back when everyone was cooing in the 'Loving Open Play' thread. Started ironically by Duck![]()

One thing I'm not impressed with in this thread is the tone that people who don't choose to play in open are substandard players or playing the game wrong, i.e. "Real men play in open." While you macho men are combing your chest hairs in the mirror, I'll be enjoying my game my way![]()
It was tongue in cheek but good advice: New players should get out of the starter systems as soon as they can. My 2nd post echoed this one. I'm here to help and have fun, it's the only reason I come on the forums. The risk is half the fun. You made a few mistakes here. One, you went to Eravate. Two, you took a Diamondback Explorer to Eravate. Three, you didn't take some mates to Eravate after the event, to exact righteous revenge.

Good afternoon all.
Should the discussion on Solo / Open / Private Groups continue, may I please advise you that your reservations have been made at the Hotel California - please form an orderly queue at reception to check in and pick up your keys.
Thanks.
No, what happened to the OP did not happen to you the day after PS4 launch, because we were all on relatively equal footing. Your Sidewinder was not taken out by a highly-engineered Python, that I can assure you. These days, however, new players are having their new Sidewinders taken out by highly engineered Pythons just for the lulz. If you think that's cool, then the OP should make you squee with delight [squeeeee]

This kinda put me off on open play but I think I'll just play privately around community goal systems from now on which sucks because open play is nice just seeing all the other Commanders.
I will say that I was at the CG last night in open in my Conda. I went to the high rez zone and there were a couple of others there which was no big deal. Well that was until I was taking down a wanted ship and one of the other commanders decided to fly right in front of me and I hit his ship. I have turrets on my ship so I can not just stop firing and I then became wanted. Needless to say they then turned on me. I got away but it was pure accident. I was heading to the station to turn in my bounties and pay my fines and a Viper MK IV pulled me out of cruz. It was the guy's buddy that I hit. I tried to tell him it was an accident and he flew right in front of my line of fire. They were upset I guess that I came into that Rez Zone and started cleaning up. I said sorry and I didn't kill his friend, it as a accident and try and fly more careful in the future. Well he decided that he wanted to take me on. Now, my conda is B rated except for shields and power distributor which is A. plus weapons are engineered as well as my shields, shield boosters and engines. I turned on him faster then he thought I would (I think he thought he could out maneuver me). Needless to say, I did not want to kill him so I left him with about 30% hull. He never had a chance to scratch my paint.
To all the players out there wanting to take on other commanders, that's fine but make sure the encounter is mutual and not just you. Commanders work hard for their ships and making good credits to improve those ships is not easy. People don't want to loose their ship for no reason.
