any signs of a very old station?Currently exploring an 8th moon on a gas giant ...
unfortunately notany signs of a very old station?
Just been having a bit of a speculation/ stream-of-consiousness chat with another interested party on the Elite Week discord server. I'm not saying I'm right; I'm prolly very wrong but I think it's worth repeating here:
Me:
My best 2+2 moment right now is that the light intensity is either a relative position star location map or details of the composition of the star/planet layout of the target system.
As in how many stars/planets are in the system and what they're orbiting around.
I mean, FDev HAVE placed that kind of cryptic information inside audiogrphs and other meta details before...
Other: do the 9 tiles overlay the 9 sector squares of the Coalsack nebula on the Galactic Map?
Me: I don't know and I'm not in a position to check. I think that's a job for CANONN
unfortunately not
Seen from earth, there is an open cluster near the Coalsack called the 'Jewel Box' wondering if this is related to the stones.
The stars in this cluster are a few Kly's further away than the Coalsack though (eg HR4887 / HR4876 / HIP62953 )
morse code
the longest letters in morse code are 4 digits, but some numbers are 5 digitsSadly no. Longest digits back to back are 5 digits. Longes morse code (if you use . as 0 and - as 1) is 4 sigits.
You could be onto something there.
The cluster was named the Jewel Box by the English astronomer John Herschel, who described it as a “casket of variously coloured precious stones”
From Earth the cluster looks like it sits on top of the Coalsack nebula, check out the images on this page:
