Design a ship contest!

I have designed these variants of existing ships. They are basically the same - they just come with G3 modules ready of your choice because I simply can't bother with the engineer tripe.

I think that pictures thus far posted in this thread are a proof enough that letting people have such contest is generally a BAD idea.

Maybe instead of just "design a ship" FDev could ask players to design a ship with a given set of parameters i.e.: min/max size & mass of ship and/or modules, weapons, etc. and intended roles. Also FDev would have to make it very clear the contest is not necessarily for a ship that will be added to the game but just to give the developers ideas/direction for designing new ships.

I'll make it easy for Frontier - I design the Panther Clipper. It looks like a brick 1mm smaller than the Mailslot on all four sides.
Come on FD do you have that ship on a hard drive somewhere? Release it already.

How about make it twice as big as the Mailslot and it can only land on Planets.

A saucer-like exploration ship. i.e. Jupiter 2:

I loved the Netflix reboot of this series and every time they showed the ship, I thought, ED should have a saucer exploration ship.

Been a while since I mucked around in a decent 3D CAD program. Have a couple ideas though. Might be worth a shot looking into it, even if just for the fun of it. Will be watching this thread closely.
