Detailed Surface Scanner - change from internal slot to utility slot

I think people forget why utility slot will not be used. Because ships like DBE has limitations. Cost vs size. Plus the Devs. Said ships need limitations.

+1 for this idea. Small ships lack the slots when you want to have the SRV

Agree with this. If you want a decent exploration ship with srv the only option really is ASP X up. And i don't think the argument "if you have all the exploration modules on a smaller ship why would you upgrade" is a valid one, since ships have more attributes than just number of slots.

I've said it for a long time. ALL scanners should be in utility slots, and they should NOT be assigned to fire groups, but either have their own "scan group", or just make them all passive.

DBE. Diamond Back Explorer. It has limitations - ever explored with a 4A fuel scoop? *cringe*

There are limitations for good reasons, then there are just silly limitations because Reasons™.

Forcing you to use 2 x C3 slots in an Anaconda because there is no C1 slot, to waste slots in small ships is just pointless if it's merely to make life annoying. Not an issue with such a big ship, of course, but this sort of silliness goes all the way down to a lot of small ships, too...

EG - Balancing fighters by limiting power, thus forcing you to choose between shields, firepower and speed/agility (ie - pick two), is interesting because it makes you consider your load out - then, of course, we ruin it with engineers, but I digress...

Limiting your options for scanners and buggies by forcing you to use a C2 AND a C3 slots, just so you can mount two C1 scanners is just being a ™. Now, if the engineers had allowed you to turn C2 slots into 2 C1's, or some such, well, that could have been interesting...

Before Horizons it had limitations, but after it's very sub par as an explorer, the role it was named for. Especially now since 2.2. The extra Class 2 slot would make it a limited but workable explorer. Still not comparable to the AspX or Anaconda, but that's as it should be.

Tell that to the autopilot! (ie. when recalling ship)

Having landed on Achenar 3 in a FAS first go, I think I am reasonably good at landing ;-)

I know, I was kidding (mostly). I wish there was a way to prevent the ship from taking off unless recalled. In the bubble, it's fine because someone might come and destroy your ship while you're off driving, but way out in the void, it's pretty safe and prevents my autopilot from smacking my ship into the bottom of a trench (OK, not 100% true, cause I fell down the trench and had no way out... so I had to recall it anyway. but the idea still stands).

Alternately, they could stop the AP from landing, just hover to pick you up like it does if there's nowhere to land.
