Hello Park Managers!

A new Jurassic World Evolution 2 Developer Diary is now available on our YouTube channel! This month we're joined by Game Director Rich Newbold, Lead Animator Amy Hook, Lead Designer Jim Stimpson, and Executive Producer Adam Woods, who'll be discussing the game's building and landscaping tools, and how you can use them to create your own Jurassic World.

Check out the full video below:

If you're unable to watch the Dev Diary, or just want the highlights, we've written a quick summary of everything discussed in the video. There are also timestamps that will take you straight to that topic if you want to jump ahead.

The full release of Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a mere 2 weeks away! We are so excited for the coming launch and we hope you're looking forward to experiencing everything the game has to offer.

Introductions
  • How you build, manage, and customise your Jurassic World can make all the difference between a dinosaur paradise and complete chaos. Creating and managing a dinosaur park in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is more expansive than ever, and you'll be building in some of the largest locations seen in the series yet.
Environments and maps
  • Players can build their own Jurassic World in a number of different environments. Every location is a unique canvas where you can customise the environment to your liking. These locations also have bespoke nuances, challenges, and weather calamities. Buildings can be upgraded with storm defences to provide protection against some of the weather's devastating effects.
Jurassic Park or Jurassic World - The Choice is Yours
  • When you jump into Sandbox Mode, you'll have the option to use either Jurassic Park or Jurassic World era building sets. PC and new-generation console players will also be able to mix eras and combine the two building sets. The team's done an amazing job in giving each building set a unique and authentic feel - and you'll have both new and familiar buildings to use when constructing your parks.
New Buildings and Park Teams
  • New buildings include facilities that house key members of staff, and buildings that help maintain your dinosaurs' welfare. The Control Center works as your headquarters, and the Staff Center lets you maintain your Scientists' welfare. Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs) coming out of the Paleo Medical Facility will help take care of sick or injured dinosaurs, and Capture and Ranger Teams sent out from your Response Facility will help you maintain the security of your parks, and your dinosaurs' wellbeing.
A Few Tips
  • Always make sure your parks are fully powered by Power Stations, but keep in mind that they are susceptible to weather damage and sabotage. A well-placed Backup Generator can be a life saver in these situations. Don't forget to use your Amenities to capitalise on your guest demographics. Viewing Galleries and Tours should provide a good view of your dinosaurs, so guests can get up-close and personal.
Guided Tours
  • The Jurassic Tour and Gyrosphere return in Jurassic World Evolution 2, and can go through land enclosures and Aviaries, letting you connect your entire park using a single Tour. They can also cross paths, automatically creating an intersection when crossing.
Genetic Modification
  • Your dinosaurs and reptiles can be released from unique Hatcheries directly into their enclosure, or be airlifted into a separate enclosure in another location. You can alter them at the genome level to diversify and improve their traits, or change their skin tones and pattern colours to further make them more unique.
Aviaries and Flying Reptiles
  • Aviaries can be tailored to suit your flying reptiles' needs in the same way as land dinosaur enclosures. Unhappy flying reptiles can break out and terrorise your guests!
Each Park is Unique
  • Every park can look different from the next. Everything from choice of dinosaurs and eras, to the layout of the parks, and the look of the Amenities Buildings, will make your park look unique and personal.
We hope this Dev Diary has given you a deeper look at the features and mechanics in Jurassic World Evolution 2. Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Don't forget, there's still time to pre-order the game before launch to get access to a set of vehicle skins inspired by The Lost World: Jurassic Park. You can also pick up the Deluxe Edition to get access to more Amenities Building signs, vehicle skins, and 5 additional dinosaurs and reptiles. Don't forget to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as we move ever close to launch.

So, this was very interesting and pretty to watch, but i still have a couple questions:

- are the gameplay eras symmetrical? As in, do they share the same buildings and dinosaur availability? Or should we expect more unjustifiable changes like in JWE1, where the JP era had no paleobotany, wu genes, and a severely reduced dinosaur roster?

- are JP era buildings faithful to the style, or at least accurate?

- have you added the intensity slider to terrain tools, to avoid losing our fingers on the mouse to ensure terrain is evenly painted?

- confirmation that all legacy JP skins are present in this game would be welcome?

- Great idea to upgrade buildings with storm defences rather than those weird "storm stations".

- the raptor climbing the fence was terrifying.

Massive kudos to Amy and her team for the amazing animations. And to Jim for the luscious beard.

I love the tapajarid pterosaur in the video! But, I can’t tell if it’s a Tapejara or Tupandactylus.

One must know that, nobody truly knows what the exact shape and size the crest of the former is, despite the mementic claims about it not being similar to the latter.

Jackpot it must be my birthday 🎉 not really but it feels like my birthday because obviously I'm very happy about Jurassic world Evolution 2 seeing how big the maps are the spinosaurus looks absolutely amazing and from what I'm seeing another pterosaur has been revealed many are calling it Tapejara yeah this is going to be the best Jurassic World experience it may even surpassed Jurassic Park operation Genesis oh heck what am I kidding it already has. 😃🎉💯

I sure hope that the sandbox also includes the options from 1 like turning off disasters, unbreakable fences, unlimited money, no sick dino 's and no power station needs etc. Hopefully new options got add onto the ones we already had.

1. Now want to see a spinosaurus Field guide

2. Definitely going to make a Chinese dinosaur Safari, Gigantspinosaurus is my favorite of all the stegosaurus in the game currently but chunkingosaurus may actually change my mind as well because of the improvements to its design.

3. I'm definitely going to do a YouTube series on Isla sorna no fences no boundaries just dinosaurs in their natural habitat on site b.

4. More Control over Weather in Sandbox 🙂👍

5. Thank you Frontier Developers!!!!💯

change their skin tones and pattern colours to further make them more unique.
Will we get a hue and saturation sliders to make them fully unique or will it be a select amount of swatches we choose from?

I think it might be Tapejara as that is technically more popular and well known in the franchise as it appeared in games and has toys as well.

Apparently it's on the rumored list... although if that supposed leaked toy is anything to go by... nobody is gonna be happy...
Here's a supposedly leaked pic.
