Hmm, I'm beginning to think you're right. First Elite IV's coming after Outsider. Now Outsider's put on hold, and Elite IV's still coming after Outsider. Frontier, give everyone what they want and get your damn priorities straight! No-one's been waiting for over fifteen years for Outsider, but quite a few have been waiting for Elite IV! Other way round, people. Work on Elite IV, get that out there, make a ton of money and then work on Outsider! Let Elite IV's engine be the basis for Outsider, not the other way round!

And man, Elite IV better be the game to end all games after all this time, and all this false dawns! But since it's probably going to come out on the damn consoles as well, I doubt it somehow.

Just read on the frontier homepage that they're headhunting staff.
LOTS of staff....
AND I've been informed that they're not sat idle staring at monitors...

That doesn't mean anything, they could be making another "fluffy" game for the Wii ...
Or the offices need a lot of cleaning ...
Or they're moving to a smaller office ...

Until an actual statement regarding a new development title, wanting more staff means nothing (and raises the debate about why they laid off staff)

In short, I'll wait and see what happens.

If Frontier want to contradict me, then they can make a post to say so.
I'll even help them out a bit. One of these two posts would do :

But considering Frontier cannot even be bothered to spend 2 minutes to post something along those lines, I highly doubt they will even be bothered to copy & paste what I've just posted as an "official" statement.

Frontier, please contradict me.
All I (and I'm sure others) are asking for is SOMETHING from you.

I, myself, am a little bemused at how frontier went through the hassle of setting up these forums for us to visit, but then didn't bother to at least make a post (or two) on how things are going (on whatever projects they're working on). They need not be specific or go into details... Just a simple hint or clue every now and then would be nice.

Personally, if I was an employee of a company that exposed a forum out to the general public. I'm pretty sure that I'd be perusing the forum at least once a day. Now, this may already be happening in the 'other' forums here, so I may be barking up the wrong tree, but my love is for the elite franchise so I pretty much only visit this one forum (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though)

Just look at that massive "ideas for Elite IV" thread. It's practically bursting at the seams with great ideas. No other games forum I have been on, has had such focus placed on just one game or analysed it's potential gameplay elements in such detail by so many people, over such a long period of time. Probably the last time something was as deeply looked at by so many people was in the early 1960s with the Apollo missions! :eek:

Frontier got that goldmine of ideas and muses for the price of setting up a forum. A bargain if you ask me.

And what was the thing that drove that epic thread on and on? Our hopes, our dreams, our willingness to **help** in anyway we could to make Elite IV a reality.

You could have a safe wager on that thread being plundered by other gaming devs out there, keen to do what Frontier seem hesitant to do. Its happened (or trying to happen) already...........:rolleyes:

I have to admit to being totally confused and saddened by Frontier's recent stance of total silence, not of course that (in the best of times) it was ever that forthcoming with information on it's projects in the first place.

It's not for me to say if Frontier owe us any explanations, but it would be nice to have our hopes renewed. I don't think, in my humble opinion that's asking too much.............or maybe it is?:S:S:S

We do read the forums, but there are no announcements to make at the moment so we haven't made any. When there is information for us to release, or the time is right to do so, we will do so.

Well to me it make sense.
if disaster hits a game studio. They must rethink there focus, damge controle and take a new road to travel.

wenn they dont set for wich project to aim for. or its to early stage then there is no ammo for press releases.

so no rumor about bankrupty.
ditch employees

atrack new emplymennt that fit there new direction.
so they planning to travel that new direction. maybe still in state of big dissision. wich can take some time.
so no news.

SuperG, everything you said would be very good points, except that we have been waiting for Elite 4 for about fifteen years. We have waited patiently for fifteen years with nothing but silence from Frontier regarding Elite 4.

During that time, we have been the subject of ridicule, but we still continued our support. We have had to defend Frontier, and we still continued our support. We have had to keep the belief in Elite 4 going and we have still continued our support.

All this time with nothing but silence from Frontier. The silence over The Outsider being dropped is the last straw. We have now had enough.

We have asked one thing and one thing only. Should we still be waiting for Elite 4? and guess what answer we get from Frontier ... Silence.

If Frontier cannot realise that NOW is the time to at least tell us whether we should continue our wait, if Frontier read these posts, and still keep us guessing, still keep silent, they will lose the patient fans who have waited all these years.

And to be honest, if they will not at least tell us that we should keep waiting, they don't deserve our support. All Frontier have shown me is that they don't give a fig* about our support.

*fig used in place of a certain other word beginning with the same letter, it rhymes with luck.

No, tvrobyn refered to a post that I have deleted (as spam). I considered deleting tvrobyn's post as well since it was clearly a "reply" to a (now) deleted post, but I prefer to only delete the stuff that I absolutely must.

Moral of the story: Please don't reply to spam :)
