Impressive pace for significant updates! One and a half month after initial release we'll see the first big update with new features, and one month after that a second big update! This is very exciting, I'm happy to have beta privileges so I'll be able to test these new features a bit earlier

Duh, providing basic functions that where to be there from the start isn't anything I'd wet my pants out of pure joy for... but hey. It's good to know that in about four months from now "Wings" will be there without having to pay again. So: Thumbs up.

About wings, is it only MP or are there missions tied to it? And you can escort NPC?

I've got to wonder why some people are here. The game clearly isn't to their liking so perhaps they should go back to Candy Crush or the latest iteration of one of the annual run'n'gun franchises.

I've seen so many games ruined by people complaining on forums until developers change things to the way the squeaky wheels want which usually turns out to be not in the interests of the majority of players. It wouldn't be so bad if they shut up at that point but they just find something else to whine about.

What rubbish. The galaxy sim, the flight model and the ships & stations are of incredible quality. The NPC & Missions structure is a placeholder, but for you to dismiss everything based in that is disingenious and low.

Are there any plans to implement some kind of tracking or a tagging system for explorers?
Not being able to mark systems of interest or see where i have explored or not makes exploring very difficult.

Unfortunately as a bit of a completionist i cannot simply run out in a direction and scan as i go, i get caught up scanning everything in the area and then end up going round in circles. Ive tried writing it down but after you have a few hundred systems on the list all with similar names it becomes impossible to track.

I have an explorer asp kitted out sitting in dock waiting for updates to allow some form of tracking my exploration progress.. I hope i get to use it sometime

FD have stated they are considering putting things like commander names on systems that they were first to explore (not naming the system, just recognition). Don't expect it to come soon though, i doubt its high priority.

3. When are you finishing the first Content patch (Release version 1) To hell with further paid expansions. You will not get another penny out of me until the game I bought is of merchantable quality.

As the thread has reached 29 pages and is growing rapidly: Can I use my current character in v1.1 and progress him and will that exclude me from the Race to Elite - if it is still going then?

If you mean the beta for 1.1 then it won't make a difference as they'll effectively be separate. Otherwise yes that's fine.

Nowhere in Michaels post did it say it would be 6 months ... By the middle of March (latest Easter) you will have your 'Wings'. In the end not everyone wants that to be the main focus, some of us want better more varied missions etc. The point being that there are other things to sort out as well.

Seriously, waiting for a month or two is "outrageous" to you? How about all those of us who have waited for Elite 4 since the mid-90's?

A couple of months, or even a year, is not that long, really.

Personally been waiting for this version of Elite since the 1980's so I don't think I will shed a tear waiting for this little diamond for a couple of months.

There is already well over 100K+ people with beta access, all of whom paid extra. It's not like they really need to expand the beta pool any further. Why should they freely offer these benefits to you or anyone else who didn't pay? It would just be the 100K+ beta customers in an uproar rather than a tiny minority of people who seem to think they are entitled to beta access.

Where are you getting 6 months from, the initial post clearly states that the initial groundwork will be laid in the 1.1 patch followed by the remainder coming in the 1.2 patch. With the "week or so" target for beta testing the features to going live you can probably expect Wings around mid March.
