Disappointed with lack of coat variation in wolves

It seems like such a simple thing to make - recolours can be done within one working week. Carbon copy animals are boring and none of us got the game that was advertised and which we paid for. The animals are clones - visually and behaviourally. Even the wild dogs (which really only need varied white patch overlays in my opinion) are identical.

I know everyone has a different opinion on what makes a game unplayable, but for me, robotic clone animals take every bit of fun and purpose out of the game. Haven’t touched it since November.

Oh, i agree with your comments. A lot of people only encounter very few bugs and outside that horrible bug - the game runs fine. (only encountered this twice)
I don't think they should just focus on bugs (offcourse not), not adding features will be the end of this game.

Tbh, i don't get why coat variations isn't implemented yet. More Coat/pattern variations shouldn't be that big of an issue.
And i agree, the game was advertised/promoted with this feature.

I think everyone wants more variation but it's very personal on how important this is. For moonfox this is a big one.

But I never heard anyone having this bug outside the forum - And as far as I know it only happens to franchise zoos, doesn't it? That's not whatI would call "makingthe game unplayable".
There were/are quite a few topics on this on the steampage. That's where i found out because on this forum, it wasn't even mentioned yet.
Its much easier for people to post a topic on steam than creating an account/posting on a forum. If you ignore the complaints, it's a very useful part of steam.
Unplayable is different for everyone. Some people only play sandbox and some only franchise.
I don't have that much spare time outside working hours, so my opinion differs from someone who spends more time with this game.
I consider this risk/bug in a preferred game mode, an unplayable situation.

I'll stop with this issue on this topic, there are different topics to discuss this part :D
It's easy to get too much off-topic..

I really don't appreciate a moderator closing my post asking for a dev response on this issues. My post was specifically about communication aspect of this problem. I feel like this was an attempt to quarantine complaints to one thread that would be more easily hidden away among other threads.

It took weeks of multiple threads on the lack of social behaviors to get a response. Based on this, I imagine if we are limited to one thread on coat variations we will never see a response. Is this what Frontier actually intends? To hide legitimate concerns and hope people don't see them and remember that they released an unfinished game?

The infinite loading bug

People losing their day 1 zoo with several hundred hours game time.
People quit/play less/don't play franchise anymore.

We're preparing an update soon that will address the bug where players can't open their save files anymore! Bear with us <3 we're working on things!
As for the second comment, we've definitely still got a lot of players, especially with Arctic coming out as well. So I'm not sure what you meant by that :)?

Your thread was closed as it was a duplicate, and I assume the moderator was trying to keep the discussion under one header, as per the forum rules :). We do not hide posts.

Well could you please actually address this thread then so people aren't forced into making other threads?

Not blaming you personally Bo (you don’t get to choose what to respond to) but wow. This entire thread is about devs ignoring the coat variation issue and you’ve posted a reply that is ignoring the coat variation issue. That’s pretty insulting to the community.

Has anybody the "every animal has unique looks and behavior" post from Frontier on hand that was promised? I dont know if it was in a trailer, post or stream tho.
I think its ridicilous that the devs ignore this topic like they do.

Besides, there are some piebald and melanistic animals out there. And other mutations like the king cheetah, panthers, golden tiger etc. Surely not every animal has a mutation in the coat color, but with every animal looking the same, there is no such promised and advertised "uniqueness" to the animals..

Imho, the animals that should have different coats:
African Wild Dog (different patterns and shades)
American Bison (different shades)
Bactrian Camel (different shades)
Bengal Tiger (different patterns)
Bongo (different shades)
Cheetah (different patterns, King Cheetah)
Greater Flamingo (different shades of pinks)
All Bears (different shades)
Indian Peafowl (different shades and mutations)
Zebra (different patterns)
Giraffe (different patterns)
Siberian Tiger (different patterns)
Snow Leopard (different patterns)
Spotted Hyena (different shades)
Timber Wolf (different shades)
West African Lion (different shades)
Polar Wolf (different shades)

Animals that should have different antlers/horns (older animals have bigger horns):
African Elefant
Black Wildebeest
Dall Sheep

Both different coats and horns/antlers:
African Buffalo (different sizes and curving in horns, different shades of coats)
Common Warthog (different sizes and curving in tusks, different shades of coats)
Sable Antilope (different sizes and curving in horns, different shades of coats)
Springbock (different sizes and curving in horns, different shades of coats)
Thomson Gazelle (different sizes and curving in horns, different shades of coats)
Gemsbock (different sizes in horns, different shades of coats)
Indian Rhino (different sizes and curving in horns, different shades of coats)
Reindeer (Reindeer have a lot of different fur colors and patterns! Antlers differ in form and size too!)

You guys are, at some point, just going to have to accept frontier comms policy on stuff they aren't ready to talk about. They will not usually respond if they don't have any kind of answer to a query. That's what happens. If they can't say roughly when or how an issue might be addressed because they are still working out how and if they might address it you won't get an answer beyond 'feedback received' at best.

You can dislike this policy but you shouldn't be surprised because that is the way they have worked from day 1. Personally I don't mind it and I do get why they might choose to operate that way.

Silver lining is that if they are reasonably sure something won't be implemented they are really upfront about it. E.g. weather in planet coaster. They said from day 1 they had no plans to do it.

The thing is, a unique behaviour and unique looks on the animals (all the animals) were advertised before the game even released. But its not in the game at all. So the players are a bit miffed about it (i am tho). But we dont know if its just a bug, gets implemented later (in worst case via a dlc which we have to buy) or if they lied to us in the first place and never intend to add them in.
The peacock displayed his tailfeathers in the trailer, but not in the game. It was a bug and it got fixed.
So we (or I) just want to know whats up, thats all. A simple "we are working on the issue, its a bug", "this feature is not implemented yet but will be on a later date" or a "we dont plan on implementing various coat colors" or something, anything, would be good to know. Communication with your player base is key if you want feedback for your game. And since this was advertised, I just would love to know if it will be in the game.

Thanks for the kind responses guys.

I wanted to respond to some queries I could actually answer so that people in this thread don't have to wait for a massive reply. We're working on getting more information on the coat variation issue, so as soon as I know more I will let this thread know. Please be patient - I didn't want the other people to wait longer.

I’m also lowkey offended by the explanation that they closed your thread, @JamieCA, to prevent redundancy, while still completely ignoring the issue.

Yea,by that explanation they should have closed this thread too, because there are already a lot of older threads discussing the same issue/topic since the start of the beta - with no actual answer from Frontier except the post that said that colour/coat variations and more/frequent social interactions were turned off for the beta and will be in the full game, which turned out to be not true.

Guys - please don't discuss what you think of moderation actions - its at the least Off Topic!.

If you disagree with any specific action carried out by the Volunteer Moderation Team (Notice... NOT Frontier employees) then you can ask for that action to be reviewed by a Frontier employee by following the procedure outlined in the forum rules.

Thanks.

Alright, an update for you all!

When it comes to colour and pattern variation, we want to look into our possibilities and will keep you updated when there are any developments in these areas. Please know that it is on our radar and we're keen to address the issues you're having with variation; we're not able to give a timeframe at this stage, so please be patient with us.

Thanks again for the feedback in this thread! It is something we absolutely take to heart but took some time to delve into.

Hope you all have a nice weekend ❤

Does that mean that they are currently not in game? Why were they shown in the dev diaries and advertised though? Was this a feature that was pushed back due to bugs that couldn't be polished yet? I remember it wasn't just a side kick but a very often mentioned feature. I'm a bit confused now....

I wish you all a nice weekend as well, though! Hope you all have a good rest.
