Discovery Scanner - 27.03.2023

Yeah, but it's their job. It's probably not the easiest or most rewarding job in the world, but I would think being able to ignore some part of the comments should be part of the job description. It's the Internet they're working with after all.
Possibly yes, possibly no?

I see a lot of what I perceive of as entitlement around the forum, while personally I'm of the opinion that we are entitled to little else than to play the game we bought, and that only for as long as the servers stay up. Personally I came here to learn about the game, have some small talk, and to possibly help others, and am far from happy with all the whining and other forum shenanigans. But it's just my personal opinion, others will of course be of a different opinion.

It's a far too common in life that we can't have nice things, because of some messing it up for the rest.. 🤷‍♂️

What? It's nice you're so aloof, but what does it have to do with anything?

I don't think we're entitled to discovery scanner or anything else CMs do, but what I really don't appreciate is blaming the comments.
I mean, do it or not do it if you think it's not working as intended or you don't have things to write, but that excuse, or pretext was just... well, lame. For me it looks that they thought that it's better to shut it down than to highlight lack of things to announce on weekly basis, but made it look like it was someone else's fault and all I can say is that this move made certain impression on me. And its not one I would associate with professionalism.

Why would Sally or any sane person work trying to do their job even outside "working hours" just to read someone saying "in my opinion" you ain't doing your job or you ain't professional. Damned if they don't and damned if they do . And personally while I disagree with the move I fully understand why . Why bother ?? The players will moan one way or the other ...

IMO, it wasn't only one person, there was a constant stream of whining from some quarters over the months...

IIRC, Sally even explicitly said so in some post. Looking forwards to see what we get instead. Besides isn't it Easter vacation in the UK?

Strange, it is over here. Thought schools were closed in the UK from 1/4 to 16/4.. Not that it means that everyone is free, but some will take days off to take care of the kids.

Somebody has got to rid this forum of the menacing whiners. I'm glad that Gaston Jack is here to lead the charge!

So it's time to take some action, boys
It's time to follow me!

Through the mist, through the woods
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside
It's a beast!
He's got fangs, razor sharp ones!
Massive paws, killer claws for the feast
Hear him roar! See him foam!
But we're not coming home 'til he's dead
Good and dead! Kill the Beast!

I have no illusion of ridding the forum of whiners..! :)

It's just my personal observation, and I can imagine that some CMs are probably happy the less they have to deal with us. After all their job isn't really to engage in forum discussions with grumpy forumites, but to publish information about the game and to gather feedback from us. Something I imagine they can do very well by just reading the forums, reddit, etc, and to occasionally publish some news on the various outlets. But of course again just my personal opinion..

It's the Chernobyl effect. A small group of brave shovelers shoveling radioactive waste had to take turns on the roof of the burning power plant so that no one gets too much radiation at once.

:)

Yes, it's the school holidays this week and next, so most people that have kids are probably taking the chance to have a break (as long as they're not trying to take a ferry from Dover)

Not a lot of taking turns going on. It seems like one person has to soak up most of the radiation.
Exactly my point. These things start to happen if there is only one shoveler.

While many of the shots are directed at management decisions, as a byproduct the shield-carrying person is the only visible target and soaks up a little bit of the bad mojo spawning in each of these events because he/she has to read it to interact with it.

There is way too much unnecessary tone on these forums, so I agree it's quite reasonable for CMs to just not put up with it any more when they have other things to do on other games.

BUT there is also a lot of vital information that appears on these forums and these forums only, and it's about some incredibly long-standing issues and the workarounds for them.
So if we're dropping weekly updates, perhaps that effort could be spent on a genuine Known Issues effort where we can simply see what is acknowledged to be broken and what the workaround is, in one simple list.
This would even save FDev some time, because the number of times people raise an individual ticket just to get a signpost to something that's an absolutely obvious fix that the support team already gave out twenty times that day must be, well, astronomical by now.
