Now ELITE is DANGEROUS! All is good, don't nerf it!!!
I agree. This has ruined the game utterly. I've been playing about two weeks.
From what I'm seeing, anyone who has it made with expensive ships likes it, and any of us who don't are screwed. And I love the attitude of some of them. "Since I'm OK, ^#$% anyone who's having trouble."
It seems pretty obvious to me that the only people who are going to play on your beta servers are ones who are long time players, and pros at the game. If you got all your feedback about difficulty from only the beta servers, no wonder it's so incredibly jacked for casual and new players. Did they really think that the beta server would give a good approximation? Why would I or any other new player play on beta when we're just trying to come to grips with the vanilla game? This was not well thought out.
Exactly. Selfishness, pure and simple.
Now ELITE is DANGEROUS! All is good, don't nerf it!!!
Haha - called it!
Ahem!
I can see a huge rift dividing players now.
Those that chest thump for the new AI difficulty, and those that have concerns of overzealous tuning.
Whilst I need to do some testing myself, I'm going on what I have read so far here. My ultimate opinion will be based on two close friends that I got to join a few weeks ago. If they love the new AI, then I'll be happy. If they don't like it and focus on other games and leave me lonesome, then I'll be a very sad bunny.
From what I have read, the most concerning factor isn't the actual AI difficulty, but the risk vs reward ratio..
I didn't get to enjoy the early rares boom. Am I having a spleen vent over that? No. The game is going to change over time. For some that's just a bridge too far, regardless of reason.
I'm not convinced that this is a deal breaker for newbies. It just resets expectations; had I started today, this would now be the norm and I'd simply learn to be a better combat pilot jusy as I did before. The only difference now? It's teaching better better combat skills.
We learn based on what we are exposed to. If it's naturally a slightly higher challenge, then that drives naturally better development.
Ironically people who learn on the new AI are on a much better footing for defending against other commanders. They may be in a better position to kick both our behinds. Something to ponder.
Agree, the solution is to crank up the bounty, NOT nerf the AI. If the bounty is high there is also a reward to have a longer combat time (TTK).
I would say that the new AI is fantastic but the spawn rate of high ranks is a little high. Not much, but possibly needs lowering a little at CZs
At least they didn't say Elitist Dangerous![]()
Well, hopefully you can stop calling people carebears now, because anyone who continues to play will be anything but a carebear.
Looks like solo mode is now the new hardcore mode, and Open/Group are now easy modes. Winging up is now going to be a lot more important.
Hey, Sandro, how about a bonus for Powerplay/CGs/etc in Solo mode?
What? I am not playing so much either, but at least I manage to adapt and develop myself. Something which you obviously cannot!
You hear that? It is the whine train (whine whine whine), inside are a lot of players who cannot handle intelligent AI. God beware, they will be heard.
Not really. Anyone starting tomorrow simply starts with the bar slightly ajusted upwards. They learn, adapt, improve, gain rank and then absolutely wipe the floor of all the old timers who had weak AI to contend with, learned bad habits, and hated change.
Pretty sure that's what's going to happen.
