Python, good shield, two 1A shield boosters, two 1b shield boosters, and a 5A thruster, got interdicted while doing a very expensive cargo run, ok I thought, don't be a big shot, just boost out of there, not a bloody chance, the anaconda tailing me took my shields out in seconds    , then the rest was over in the blink of an eye, now as I've already said, I don't mind harder AI, but please allow for us cowards to make a run for it!

"I'm Dangerous ranked! So I know a thing or two about combat!" Against moron NPCs....

"My A-rated...." A rating isn't the highest armour - it's not a default win.

I fear that there used to be a bit of a press-to-win button, and now it's gone :/

All those saying that new players will be thrown in the deep end, I can categorically say that this is nonsense. I deleted my old save, & have been playing as a new commander for the last 3 hours. It was challenging, yes, but by no means too difficult for a newbie to handle. In pretty much all my combats so far, I've never faced anything more than a Novice NPC-with no modified weapons that I could see. I did get killed once in that 3 hour period, but that was down to my own stupidity-I dropped in on a distress call, knowing full well that it could be a trap......and it was. Got jumped by a wing of 5 pirates at the wreckage of a ship. I tried to run, but sadly they overwhelmed me (another 2 seconds, & I would have got away too).

Either way, didn't stop me from earning 40,000 credits in that 3 hour period. Seriously, the only thing that might scare new players away is the RAMPANT FEAR MONGERING being perpetrated by players who hate the idea of a truly challenging AI.

It's a game. Meant for amusement. That's what's wrong with that. The Witcher 3 is an excellent example of a hard game that was still easy enough for everyone to enjoy. If you wanted to play on the hardest difficulty, you had to be really good and methodical. Well. Elite Dangerous has now been set to Death March for everyone. In games where you can't set your difficulty, you must be very cautious with NPC difficulty. I guess FD doesn't realize that though. Oh well. Their loss.

actually, it is your loss. If you rather make stuff up about cheating AI rather than practice, thats your loss. Btw, didnt you just start a topic where you said you left for a year?

When we say A rated, we mean A rated module in the highest class available. Some of you really need to shut up.

Being good in a bar fight still doesn't make one a better virtual spaceship pilot.

you see that's my point why insult other players bravery or skill because they find parts of a game difficult
an insult is an insult when directed at other players of the game , i mean calling players cowards in a game , give me a break
theres none of you even remotely dangerous just a load of big kids playing spacemen and taking it a bit serious if you ask me [blah]

Nope, it's going to get better. :) Well, needs another balancing pass perhaps, more variety in tactics (to make mid ranks a little easier), and new skills for higher ranks to make them a little less predictable. :)

WUT O.O

Eh that depends on the enemy. Wyverns were very susceptible to side stepping and a strong attack to the back. I killed two of them at the same time plus a royal one as a boss afterwards, on blood and broken bones, 15 levels below them. I got hit once the entire fight. Also check the definition of methodical. My point was the game on death march is difficult. I'd love to see you just breeze through a fight on DM against 30 wolves.

I don't know where I would find 30 wolves but I accept your challenge. My point is, Death March is not difficult, it is my one sour grape within an otherwise astonishingly perfect game.

A methodical approach is one that has been well planned and well practised, pressing the directional key and spamming one button is not really what I would call methodical. It requires little planning and no practice.

Yeah I was referred here. The AI definitely cheat. I don't care who has said they don't. Damage output for the AI is far higher than anything a player can hope to achieve. I mean. It may not be that their weapons themselves do more damage per shot, but it could have something to do with them never missing. I've seen NPC's fight each other and hit eachother with PA's at TWO KM's. That's not cheating? Ok.

It's never cowardly to run from a fight you know you can't win. It's intelligent. Unfortunately you don't always get the time to run. You're dead before you know it.

And what do bar fights have to do with bravery either?

You're not a new player, you have experience with the games mechanics and layouts, that's very different from someone who is actually new to the game.

No. Methodical generally means a slow approach. Such as if you're in a fight on DM, to make sure you take the slow route but the safer route. Instead of charging headfirst like you can on lower difficulties.

Better tell that "silent majority"of yours to get voting then.

They're not on the forums.

that could be why the damage seems so out of balance the fact they never miss and have unlimited ammo. on paper the numbers would look the same but in real life its massivly off.

After checking the definition, I'm afraid we're both right. It can mean either.

And what is the problem there? New players don't have that experience and they are going to suck at first. We've all been there. That's normal. But they are going to get better as well.
