I do. With no risk involved where is the fun in trading?

In making money. It was already a slog. I mostly switched to bounty hunting to make money just because it was faster (so much for that, now!).

Now it's going to be an even bigger slog...assuming you don't get exploded every other time you go out. Yeah! Fun! Enough fun to make me quit playing even.

If you're going to make trading high risk, at least make it high reward. It was hardly worth it before. It almost certainly isn't worth it now.

Seems fine to me.

Also, people are rushing way too early into complaints, wait until you get OP engineer upgrades...

You don't say. Thats why I must get paid at work.

And thats exactly why I am not interested in payouts. You don't make sense here.

Think your wall is the biggest one in the forum, Han.

In any case, it's Friday, and colleagues are assembling outside for a few drinks. Time I joined 'em.

Been fun, everyone!

If all you see in ED is profit/hour, then I am afraid nothing will improve that case further down the road.

Well, if Elite intends their game to be just for people who like exploding things for fun, then maybe it should be marketed that way and not "you can do whatever you want!" Because apparently they're making their game so that if you like exploding things, you'll have a good time, and if you like doing anything else, you live in absolute terror while grinding forever.

In making money.

Explain how making imaginary money is fun.

It was already a slog.

Yes - and now its a game. You now overcoming challenge is sopposed to be fun..

No.

Rofl - you sure you are on the right forum?

It does feel that Elite has become more combat orientated. An unarmed trader with minimal attack and defenses has no chance but to lose alot of money. Trading feels less fun and less incentive.

Elite is really 3 games in one - fighting, trading and exploring. As the name imply "dangerous" all of the branch of the game have their combat and danger risks. Make a risk assessment before hitting the ink and kit appropriately. it's all part of the fun of the game.

If all you want is Netflix trading, then would I suggest places like Jita where spreadsheet trading is the norm, can be set to autopilot and very safe.

man all the tough guys on this forum make me laugh
desk jockeys who in real life couldn't bust a bag of crisps and have the cheek to call other players coward's
yes players because this is a GAME not who you really are just a GAME

Just to find you there, hiding :D

the internet is a funny thing, you never know what's on the other side.

Is there supposed to be a poll in the first thread? I never see these polls from poll threads. Is that just not on mobile?

I vote way too hard. The ai is way too over powered. How in the world can anyone be ok with a cutter being destroyed in 10 seconds and right in front of the mailbox is beyond me. That's sick. Not right at all.

I think there should be easy medium and hard where medium is pre 1.6. I would pick pre 1.6. It didn't need changing except in a couple ways. How the ai flies and shoots. If that's all they improved in my opinion the ai would be more difficult. But sometimes they wouldn't fire at you. But in 1.6 they are way over powered. Like they have engineers weapons and then some. Super weapons.

I've had major issues with the ai since 1.6 and pre 1.6 it was already hard enough on the higher rank npc.

For me its not fun anymore and I don't feel like playing or updating to horizons until they tone the ai down a bit. I don't know but I really wonder if even with engineer upgrades for the player the ai will be too over powered still. I'm guessing yes.

So to please everyone they could add easy medium and hard. If better players don't like that idea then don't use the lower difficultly. It would give us choice to play how we would like. No one is forced on anything.

Truly God bless and be with all of you and frontier.

Joe

1) I do manage pips

2) turning your ship into a battleship kinda makes it difficult to do trading

1: Good. Keep it up.

2: This is true, but turning your ship into a more survivable trader just means a little less cargo cap or jump range. A cost of doing business that is still less than your accumulated rebuys. You'll still make a profit. (I know, because I've been doing that since PB and I make enough to keep playing)

Because it's a game? We've all payed more or less the same to be able to play it. Why would it be so wrong for everyone to enjoy it?

if you are a casual gamer and play it only once every two weeks, why do still want to drive how the game should work?

Sorry - NPCs are just way overpowered.
I just had it again - interdicted by a FDL when in my cutter - class 6 shield with 3 class A boosters taken down in around 10 seconds, escaped with 86% hull.

I played in beta and found the AI OK for me in res sites. However, I don't find combat particularly interesting so didn't devote that much time to it. What I will say is that I care not one jot how mean the AI is as long as they don't interdict me unless I am wanted, am pledged to a different power, am on a risky mission or have a lot of cargo. And, if I have cargo, I should be able to drop some to make them go away.

If being clean and having no cargo means I don't get interdicted at all then I am fine with the new AI.

Having run a bit last night and doing some Bounty Hunting I have a few observations.

I tapped each type of ship and can say the only one that seems really over powered is the cobra.

Here's Why:
Of all of them, I died 4 times last night (most in two months, not bad, nice improvements!) However, 3 of the 4 were to cobras. I'm running in a Vulture, beefed up, pimped out. Yet, oddly Cobras have the magical unicorn powers of Ramming you until you die. 3 Direct Rams shields down and two shots my Vulture is dead...and I couldn't get their shields past half way. I dropped Pythons, Anacondas, Vipers, Diamondbacks, Couriers even (        annoying as they are), and yet Oddly I felt like Professor Quirrel trying to suck the blood out of a fabled beast that was magically untouchable. FD - Recheck the Cobras would ya?

Second Observation:
Seems the spike in difficulty went way up, but the rewards for said engagements stayed about the same. Whilst there are a few bumps, like 10-20% rewards, the overall difficulty increase is like 200%. Might I suggest the KW Scanner posting the actually bounty in the returned data so as to incentivise and en/discourage engagement? Seems if we are to "pick our fights" it would help to have a way of doing so intelligently.

Third:
Whilst the overall use of power is the big difference, the use of power distribution seems to be coming at a "computer" speed and NOT at a human speed. I thought AI was to be more human, flipping spacial "u" turn in faster-than-human speeds is essentially AI cheating. Might want to fine tune that logic.

Other than that, I can't disparage the improvement in AI, just suggest a few tweaks.
