yes the problem isnt with novic ai like i orignaly said they are easy enough in a small ship. its novice player getting interdicted by elite ai and getting smoked in seconds as in no time to even flee.

How is it even possible to be blown away in a Cobra? I'm not trying to mock you or anything, I just don't understand how that is even possible.
When you lose your shield its time to go, period.
if hes using it to explore probably no armor or bulkhead reinforcement. that stuff just limits jump range out there.

and what, you think we will stick around to do this as a job if we arent having fun? or you prefer we dont give the devs a chance to tweak things before dumping the game and their finances in the trash and moving on, leaving it with you few pro gamers with your infinite rebuy capacity? particularly when we WERE enjoying the game before? oh i guess you can support the game alone all you few hundred pay enough to support frontier developments with their staff costs and other bills and taxes... lend me a few real life millions will you?

simple fact: games should be fun. simple fact: casual players dont have all day all week like pro gamers to play games. simple fact: if its not fun casual players will move on and buy something else. simple fact: games with not enough players to make money die.

enough facts?

PS if you are rich i could really use some money lol...

When you lose your shield its time to go, period.

I fly a cobra. My shields would be gone on the first pass, and then my hull would get trashed as I am trying to flee. And this is just from one AI enemy. Once the enemy gets behind you, there's no way to get your gunsights on them again, they just keep circling until you finally give up and boost away.

What about ships like the FAS that have really poor shields to begin with?


It seems to me like what you want are players to be in ships that have both simultaneously large shields and powerful hulls. But that little niche is filled by the big ships. But big ships can't compete now, so...

Yeah, this line of reasoning makes no sense. Really all it means is that the FDL and the Vulture are the only ships that can fight at all. Which is a hundred levels of stupid.
 
I figure it's a bug AND actual buffed AI occurring simultaneously and separately that is causing this Bi Polar reaction.

In one corner you'll see the "I fought a Deadly FAS last night and he got me down to 50% hull before he died" (which seems like properly buffed AI and this is how most of us want it.) In the other corner you'll see "An iEagle blew up my Anaconda in 9 seconds." (which seems like a bug.)

So my sneaking suspicion is that all this arguing is over two different things.

I highly suspect that all of you saying difficulty is fine are people with crapload of cash able to lose 20 anacondas a day. Well now I have only one ship and I can t afford to have it blown up anymore

I have only been playing 2-3 months and only have 20 odd million in credits so not a lot really. I fly an Asp Explorer and it isn't A specced up at all. I am also not very good at pew-pew as I mostly only do planetary missions.

Since last night I have been interdicted many times and have not lost my ship yet, yes it is harder, yes it is a lot more difficult now as I can loose some hull now, before, I had always ran before any of my shields went down. I am waayy off being an Elite pilot but it is infinitely better now than before as it really is dangerous now.

I just hope they don't nerf the ai, but I think with all the moans and groans they will tone it down a great deal which would be a real shame, IMO.

Nope, that is just not correct, I just made a fine amount of money using a Sidewinder. From an old players POV its not much, however if you're a new player, you can make 500.000 pretty easy in a Sidny. Not as easy as in 2.0, but still more fun and the TTK is not that long.
 
I'm gonna be so dissapointed if Frontier cave into this.. I suspect they will, coz hey, why get better or improve when you can whine on the forums and seek big Daddy Brabens help. AI is fine, increased challenge is very welcome in my view. Time to git gud... you can also find some wingmen to play the game with. It is afterall a multiplayer game ;)
I fear this as well. but FD said that there plan is : Low ranks even easyer , high ranks even harder...

It would make no sens to nerf the AI

yep that seems to be a thing and they say its supposed to be like player damage but a wing of players in Eagles could not dent a shiled tanked conda yet the ai 9 seconds lol. i relly think when they changed the ai damag output they didnt factor in some things like ai never missing etc.

I like the new difficulty, the fact that the AI now utilise the maneuverability of their ships rather than speed (viper/cobra AI looking at you mate) or hull and mass (cutter pls), which adds a lot of value to having smaller ships like the dropship or vulture.

Using wings will not have a far more drastic effect on how long you can run, as having a buddy to chase off those flighty small NPCs will help you keep alive much longer.
Until this point I had not struggled with any ship individually (besides being frustrated by fleeing vipers who return as soon as they have shields again).
 
Can you still submit and boost away? I haven't logged in to 2.1 yet, but I'm coming back from Beagle Point with a metric ton of scan data and would like to make it to port :) I'm in an ASP with A3 Shields but mostly D-rated components for weight considerations.

Be very afraid - I'd suggest you dock and cash in at the earliest safe opportunity! ;)
 
I voted too hard cause I just lost my T9 for the 3rd time since 2.1 went live i.e. in < 24hrs total insurance claim costs + cargo > 15 mil credits + failed missions (lost mission-specific cargo)
Thank god I parked my Conda cause total losses would have been at least double. If it goes like this I will have to take a sindy and start again from zero :( .

So ok yeah the teenagers and hardcore PvPers are happy now. So you managed to actually make Frontier tailor the game to your like. And the 84ers and older players should just s**** up right? Ok.. I will only ask one favour: Could Frontier please at least bring an NPC AI difficulty slider for Solo at least (I stress just for solo - I am not intrested in PvP nore I am a 24/7 HC player - I want to have a life ya know..

And I replied to them, irrelevant if you're already in range because you can get hosed before you get out of range.

You won't be cooked in few secs. You have to act fast, sure, but that's how everything goes in ED.

At the moment, a couple of seconds is all you have before realising things aren't going your way and being too messed up to jump.
