Can anyone comfirm this:

I've seen a lot of Python owners complaining about insta kills today, maybee there is something wrong with the Python as a ship? Some modifier that is wrong or something?

Ah , well I would go for an ASP ! perfect ship for the job.
If you cant shoot it , you can outrun it !
That's nice...so any advice for a new player facing bankruptcy and yet another restart? Only with the difficulty ramped up several times? What do I do when I can't fight or run? Can't progress in the game so what advice ye have fer me?

Here's a suggestion for FDEV

Put a combat level slider into the game for Single player - if you have it set to less than your actual level then the NPC's you meet are of that level, and none of them count toward rank improvement.

It means we can learn the skills we should have from the beginning without losing credits. As our skill increases we move the slider back to reflect your actual level.

Means that casuals (such as myself) can still enjoy farming RES's and playing space truckers and the hard-core players aren't affected.

There's no single player. It is solo in matchmaking. Game is the same. So no.

Every game is aimed at casuals... there is not a single fun space game anymore.
Elite is my last hope.

Every game should be aimed at casuals. It's how you get new players. It's not an either/or proposition - nothing about defanging the unavoidable battles would make it less challenging for you if you want it. It seems that it's not enough for you to have a ball, but you need to take it away from epople you think are unworthy in the process. It's not a good look.

No. Not even remotely. Maybe you've not been seeing the same level of problems as others have.
Look I dont want to be rude or nasty.
I have been playing sins 7AM , I have day off and its been the best the elite franchise has every been.
I have been in combat allmost all day and have yet to be killed.

The AI dont cheat they use the same tricks as us. so we all can adapt.

I totally agree. A question that Frontier must ask themselves: How many players are going to quit for the only reason that NPC combat is too easy? And how many will quit, because they keep getting killed by NPCs and now, after the patch, lose the assets that they have grinded for, for months or even years?

That is exactly the problem with these kinds of players. They have happily decided to grind for the biggest, most expensive ships in the game.....happily farmed the brain dead NPC's in RES's to boost their credits and their combat rank, & are now simply        off that they are now facing *real* AI opponents closer to their apparent combat rank. Frontier is under ZERO obligation to appease these whiny grinders IMHO.

Yes, it is very incompatible with fighting much faster, well outfitted opponents.

Or shorter, wrong tool for a job.

How many other players need to have the game be unplayable for you to feel validated?

Maybe an option that turns on god mode for the casuals. they can still be killed by players but not NPCs.

that way I get my fun in combat and they get there fun as well

I have never done any grinding.

But thank you for implying that I'm unworthy of enjoying the game I've paid for.

None. its not that hard ,adapt. why is that too much to ask? maybe upgrade your thursters I dont know

SJA said low ranks will be easy , high ranks will be hard and its going to stay that way.

Thats true , 100%

However this is frontiere vision , this is how they want the game.
A game were every ship has a role and things they are good at but also down sides.
A game were every action has its side effect
A game were you have to plan ahead
A game were you have to think.

The game they advertised to us during kickstarter

As a new player myself, this was a steep learning curve the first few days, but it was so fun, I've already spent nearly two weeks straight playing the game. Yes, this is another post about the AI and some people may say we whine a lot, but it needs to be said again and again until people here us! This is a game, for entertainment, that drives people to play. I left EVE after playing for over a decade, because it just became about the combat (being solely focused on PVP, in which I do not care to participate), as are most of the games out there. FD fixed the PVP issue by offering solo play! OMFG, yay! If I want to trade, or mine, or build up a faction to earn merits, I can do that, apart from combat. At least, until 2.1. I played the beta, solely for the engineers interface to see what I could do to my drives, powerplant, and other non-combat items. FD thinks it's funny to ram combat down my throat by making it up front and in my face. I've not grinded like others, and mostly ranked up by doing exploration of the massive universe (still have yet to get my name on a star or planet, I think they nerfed that showing up though?). I was excited to think that maybe I could get some multi cannons and do a bit of shredding, like I've seen some YouTubers post about in the 2.1 beta 6, but didn't realize that I would be outclassed from the initial patch. Lost 4 Vultures in one hour. Yipes! Yes, I'm gonna group up with a work buddy and team up on targets to see if I can learn to fight better, but the wind has been taken out of my sails and I have only played about 4 hours since the patch. Mostly due to buzz crashes when going from SC or trying to land at planets, etc. It was a very persistent problem for hours and I just didn't have time for it. I understand you OP guys out there, with your hard earned billions from exploiting game mechanics are loving this right now. I respect that you've gotten what you've been hoping for for awhile. Honestly, I think the only reason you are playing ED at all is because a certain other game that offers cut-throat PVP and combat is still in production (having       the mass of people for their own personal greedy gain, IMHO). ED has delivered what that game may never; a working game. That should not, however, dictate that all games should fall prey to the forced game play mode. I want to make my own character, as it states, the way I want to play. Not be force-interdicted every time i'm in SC, shot to pieces, having had my drives targeted without a way to escape. Yes, the game title is Elite: Dangerous. I actually thought about paying to play this game, for a week, since there was no demo. Having committed my money to the chaps in GB, I'm of the mind set that I will not renew the next season at this rate, unless something changes. I had this forced down my throat once with WOW, where it went from being an alright PVE experience, to "must grind with teammates to make it anywhere in game", and I'd just not like to do it again.
Ok, that said, I applaud FD for making a space flight sim that looks great, runs smooth, and is massively infinite in scope. It's a good way to escape RL and see the universe, especially with D.A.R.K. telling me all about Orion, etc. I love the HOTAS setup interface, and bought one to fly better (keyboard and joystick weren't very user friendly). I thought about getting a VR setup, just because I like the idea of being totally immersed. I've considered the IR tracker, but have a family of 6 to think about. FD has made such a fun game, at least until this point, that I want to participate in and keep playing for years. I'd like to see the ability to build player stations in remote areas of space, since we can travel there, it only seems logical that we would try to colonize. I would like to see player made factions, where the AI have to compete again the real life power of human teamwork (more than just the powerplay system now). Multi-person cockpits! YES, that is awesome. More of our childhood Star-Trek fantasies in player form for us to continue drooling over.
Please don't ruin it with forcing us to participate in OP AI combat, unless we choose to. Thanks!

There are no more upgrades for my ship apart from engineers, which are not a short-term option. I'm not even high rank. The curve is currently just wrong.

Making interdictions and USSs more reasonable would not prevent you from getting your fix in combat zones, assassinations and HazRes.

Their vision is not to lock progress out for anyone not 'hardcore' enough. Because they are not stupid.

Voted Other,

I like the difficulty of the AI as previously it was a joke. But I find its broken atm, I am beginning again due to a technical issue from some time back and decided it was simpler to re-roll my Cmdr. I am in a T6 (shielded etc A Spec'd) and I am being interdicted by a wing of 4+ Elite AI and before I can even boost I am destroyed. (Not in anarchy systems or such, staying in safer systems - Trading metals, minerals and occasional mission, no smuggle or illegal).

I am currently 9 rebuys and approaching life back in a Sidey due to this. I dont mind being interdicted, submitting and boosting away taking fire, damage, being killed at times and what not, but not even having a chance as being destroyed as soon as you drop is not fun. I am Novice combat, and second tier in Trade and Exploration(Sorry cant think of rank names and not at Elite PC to check) so why am I getting hit by wings of Elite AI each and every time I get into SCruise?

I am glad Elite is now dangerous, but it seems like its insanely dangerous where 500 million credit+ ships survive and everything else is insta-gibbed!

Well , they did say that lower ranked NPC will be made easyer , higher ranked ones harder...
Maybe a good idea would be :
1- add more levels of threat in the USSs so that it can be more clear 10 being insane , only go to die and 0 being no ship there unless someone arives afterwards
2- add a Counter FSD interdicter that makes it easyer to escape but if you have it you can interdict NPCs
3- Warnings when high ranks ships are in range
4- An option in the menu to decrease damage taken by NPCs for those who want it (only works against NPC not players)

and you have a pure combat ship all the time by sound of it. so basically unless you play elite purely for the combat thats just tough eh? some of us want to be traders and explorers and do missions and OCCASIONALLY have some fun combat. combat is no fun if you have no chance!

i have an asp explorer. military grade armour and top shields. 2x 2d beam lasers and 2x1g multicannons. best powerplant and power distributor, 64 ton cargo hold, fuel scoop advanced disco scanner and detail scanner, i could go on, and yet one npc master took down that shield and then did 74% hull and got powerplant down to 58% in the 30 seconds or less it took from opening fire until the police arrived. i had no chance to damage him. my only option until the cops arrived was flee and i doubt i would have made it. wheres the fun in that? i had 1.5 million rebuy coming out of the 6 million credits i had left after buying and beginning my FAS build - which was wasted by this update because its weak shields mean i would be dead in 30 seconds so the police would only recover me and revenge me.

your view then is combat ship or expect to die. so FD might as well remove the other kinds of ships except fighters except for npcs. no more explorers. why bother if your data vanishes when some random npc vapes you in 4 seconds before you can dock? no more traders - others have already said they are no longer able to use t9. mining - i have seen someone say the sites are full of npcs; what chance against the ship that hit me with mining laser?. sorry but the AI still needs tweaking.
