I think people regarded the Queen of Sag A as a gweefer. Personally I found the whole thing quite amusing, particularly when they kept editing the systems wiki to reflect its one resident and government type.

Why are their efforts pathetic to you, and that of the explorers so inherently honorable?
Don't you realize that's just as subjective?

No, it's not just subjective.
The ganker crowd has so far completely failed to engage larger groups of Elite players beyond simply shooting them.

Which is why PvP will always be a sideshow to real player driven events. If you want to get out of this conundrum, you'll have to step up and get creative.

Just being a nuisance to other players, as you have been so far, won't get you anywhere in the long run, and it certainly won't get you the acceptance of the larger player base that you so desperately crave.

I confirm that number is real, as I have an update for distant ganks 2 too:

I have delivered a full laden conda to omega operations under null's baby gang's noses without a scratch in open.

I guess these forces aren't so overwhelming that you can call null the overlord of the galaxy. Of his courtyard maybe?

weak weak backstory guys.

Well done Cmdr. Fat Lee salutes your work.

I don't think the devs are taking this event all too seriously, otherwise it certainly would have appeared in GalNet news - especially were it's such an outstanding example of <cough> roleplaying! Though, when you think about it, they probably should take it seriously as this whole mess is pretty much by design and mainly their responsibility. A decent game design would never allow such 'gameplay'...

To be fair, even if Distant Ganks had been for example a different exploration trip running counter to DW, its promotion by FDev would depend on if its creators/admin team were in the FDev clique or not.

We've seen this several times in the past.

And why do you think Frontier supports Distant Worlds?

FDev is in the business of selling video games. DW2 brings in players, PvP doesn't. It's as simple as that.

And with their actions during the past week, the ganker crowd has made perfectly sure that none of this will change any time soon.

Read my post again.

I'm saying that if there are two similar events running, or two sides to a tale (for example a BGS war), FDev will always come down on the side of their clique of preffered player groups be it in the guise of promotion, GALNET publications when we could submit them (remember the Alliance powerplay debacle?) moving of goalposts regarding the EULA (streamsniping), Additional unique content (decals/a megaship), overuling the BGS (to keep a CG open) or the most irritating so far seen hotfixing glitches/bugs theyve ignored till it hurt one of the clique (1t transaction, anyone?). Always has done, always will.do

My comment was nothing to do with the comparitive 'benefit' an event yields to the community in the eyes of a participant.

The thing I find slightly bemusing about this is FD's response (or lack of...)
Surely the massacre at Pallaeni would have been worthy of "some" response from the vaunted C+P fleets of justice?

And wouldn't the Empire/Federal fleets be looking to mete out justice to these naughty gankers ??

Its not like the PVP crowd have made a secret of their intentions... where is the Military ? where is FD's SUPER Security ??

The AI may not be very good, but if every Griefer was constantly interdicted by waves of security/military it might just bore them into submission....

At the very least we should build a wall !!

FDev, to my knowledge gamed the system as best they could using current mechanics in favour of the explorers by godmodding and buffing the system security rating.

Greeings,

This thread is about the OP and others killing harmless ships in a massive joint experience playing together and being "respectable" as part of the game. Well, it is part of the game and legal in game play. But is it respectable? Not by a long shot.

They counter per, "Doesn't the DW2 have security to protect their ships?". How are they are going to protect the fleet travelling halfway across the galaxy with the needed modules while some player can fly ahead in a high jump range ship then then transfer their awesome bubble meta combat ship before the fleet gets there? All the locations are known. I know your tactics as much as you do.

This is about PvP players hungry for a challenge after getting bored seal clubbing new players in the starting systems, taking out players going to an engineer site, laughing at community goal players actually silly enough to do it in Open play. They are bored with their play...Then along comes DW2 with luscious ripe targets! Too hard to pass up. I understand.

It is their game play style and I cannot fault them for that. But the more they kill an amazing 10,000 member event the less these players will ever see them again in Open. Thus it will get lonely starting back seal clubbing new players in the starting systems. They will only end up with new players who many doesn't have a clue ever knowing that Frontier has a Forum warning them until it is too late.

Respectable? Don't make me or many others laugh at this premis. It is all about many players needing a "fix". Over time all they do is to make less players play in Open then complain on the Forum they don't have enough to do. Will that resolve their hunger playing the game their way? Probably not. But in no way will it ever be respectable game play for many.

Maybe perhaps join a DW2 event versus nothing else than pew-pew. Getting all those engineered weapons required playing the game in many ways players don't want to do. Take a chance and meet someone who is not into combat. You are probably on Discord. It could open up opportunities in the game that haven't been experienced. Just an opinion.

Regards

Is there some hardcoded mechanic in Ship Transfer that prevents a 'defender' ship doing the same?

What is the furthest (from the Bubble) a Grief/Gank incident has occurred so far ??

I seem to recall a Commander being ambushed at Sag A once in open...

Not the one by the player who proclaimed themselves the Ruler of Sag A, the event I am thinking of was earlier ?

Could be under threat on this trip.

Unless, of course someone has already managed it at Beagle or Ishums ?

afaik the first Sag A* griefer incidents (which horrified the exploration community at the same as such a thing was hitherto unthinkable) occured some time early in May 2015. I remember this because I made my Sag A Buckyball Run on May 28th and the presence of the griefer was of some concern as official runs had to be performed in Open. I remember Cmdr Anuranium had flown out to Sag A to deal with the "problem" and, along with another Cmdr who's name I sadly forget, had stayed there to protect the area and greeted me when I arrived. I seem to recall the self-proclaimed "queen of Sagittarius A*" appeared in the area a few months later and "reigned" for maybe another month or so. There's almost certainly a forum thread or two about all this somewhere - I'll see if I can dig them out 'cos it's interesting stuff.

Questions...

1) Imagine you like PvP (as the AI offers very little real challenge and CQC is too regimental and devoid of people) what mode are you gonna use and where are you currently going to find the most people?

2) Imagine you are not in to PvP what so ever and you want to go on this massive expedition and (option a) fly with lots of like minded people; (option b) fly alone; what mode are you going to use?

If you answer these questions honestly there should be no problem. However, if you get sucked into making the incorrect choice (either by others/misleading publicity/conversations etc..) there is likely to be a steep learning curve, and there maybe salt.

Perhaps some people just like to moan, and some want their cake and eat it...blah, blah, blah....
