Distant Worlds 3 - "The Shoulder of Orion" Colonization Event

So I volunteered to help, but I realized that 13:00 UTC is, um, 06:00 here in PDT. Can I still help if I can only do anything in the last two hours or so?

The RVS Osiris is fully stocked and ready to deploy.

o7 to everyone involved, from the Retro Faction of Voltrigones.

Used to be CMDR AIKI_ZVEZDA, took part in DW2 (still have the patch on my bag!) and contributed a bunch to the GMP.
After years of not playing, Elite is in a state where I feel like it's been renewed and has promise :) it is a pretty bold, but brilliant move of the developers to focus not just on new ships to chase, but also more social gameplay, deepen the MMO qualities of the game.

I am intrigued, but I do want to see how the colonization event goes first!
Do have to admit I still don't have interest in a particularly LONG journey; I've explored for FAR too many lightyears, and stopping at Sag A* was enough for me in DW2, as I just wasn't very interested in the empty inky outer arms.

Have you been to Goliath's Rest? That was a DW2 stop after Sag A* & had an amazing view.

The 30th is the kick off event so to speak and for at least a month after that, all hlep!!!11 is appreciated.
Can we have some guidance for this please? From the Discord discussion I gather I've left it too late to participate tomorrow, the entry was said to have closed, so unsure what & how to become involved.

Not done any colonisation activities (doesnt really appeal), but willing to do some hauling/tritium mining to help this endeavour...my Cutter is now back in the bubble. Will collect her later this morning, do a bit of engineering/load out adjustments (family comittments permitting), but then don't have a clue....

Its only voluntary Fleet Carrier applications that are closed for the time being. Anyone can still sign up and take part as haulers/builders, but we've had an overwhelming number of people donating their Fleet Carriers to the initiative, so its those that are now on hold.

At some point in the coming weeks, Carrier applications may reopen. But as for haulers and builders, applications for those roles are open, and will be indefinitely.

Thanks Erimus.
Are tritium miners needed to fuel the FC, or are haulers more important?
Just wondering whether to fit cargo holds or collector limpets. Will probably still swap out a couple of weapons for subsurface missiles in any case.

Haulers are more important at the moment, but depending how far the chain reaches, then the Tritium issues will be addressed. We may use some carriers purely as fuel tankers when the time comes.

It appears I signed up twice. Can you take off my most recent signup on the sheet, CMDR CDspace. I'll be on later today to begin figuring out how to help. Onward, into the black!

I would like to say that I can understand this (and in a general sense I can) … but that totally baffles me. Because the empty inky outer arms were (and are) where I feel drawn the most to … once I had been there. And before I had been there the challenges they posed seemed most intriguing. I couldn't wait to get my 1st (trusty) ASP Explorer and get out to Beagle Point and I had as one goal to cross The Abyss instead of going around (and that was before the Guardian FSD Booster was available).
Anyway … I really like to how many different spaceship-ing activities ED can cater.
