Got mine today and installed audrino drivers ok but the devices port does not show in edtracker ui and can't be flashed, tried 3 different cables and same result, the edtracker was plugged in during the screenshot.

Received all my parts yesterday. Built, flashed, configured and tested on a laptop here at work - it works really well doesn't it!

Can't wait to try it at home tonight in-game ... speakers mean I might have to borrow an Alice band off one of our girls :D

Try a different port (non-USB 3.0 maybe?) but failing that, I can see you've got the bootloader detected previously on COM7 but not showing as plugged in? Does it show as plugged in briefly when you connect the device (then it should disappear pretty much immediately)?

I've built an alternative bootloader today - the LUFA HID bootloader - for EDTracker Pro. 2Kb instead of 4, so gives us more room for code, and it's completely driverless too. So much better than the Arduino/Caterina serial-based bootloader, it makes you wonder why on earth Arduino decided to go that route...

I'm not happy with this device, its obviously untested, I've tried 2 pc's and 3 different cables, I've started a paypal dispute because there is no fixing it.

That's what happens in the device manager, just for a second, but it never get detected by the software.

OI! Be nice! What these guys have done for affordable head tracking is amazing!

They also sell them on for very little ontop of what the components cost fully made.

I have had mine (delivered constructed) for over a month now and it works flawlessly.

Taking money of people for stuff that don't work is not nice either, besides I am being perfectly reasonable.

You posted your problem, Today, 2:56

Brumster replied with suggestions, Today, 4:15

You stated a paypal dispute, one minute later, Today, 4:16

thats not been very reasonable and paypal will demand you make a little bit of effort yourself to solve the problem.

So I wait for a update your saying?

You are being totally unreasonable acting like they have scammed you or something when there are many many happy customers (myself included) on this forum alone.

You must have just been unlucky, and you would be wise to try to troubleshoot it with the guys and if all fails they should be able to fix it for you (pretty sure it says this on their website)

I'm not swearing, I'M NOT USING CAPS, what I was sent don't work, why is it unreasonable to want a refund?

Hey peeps...

Tox - best thing is always to email us, not arrange support via this forum, although we do our best on here you'll get a faster response via email.

Anyway, no need for a PayPal dispute, a simple email to the person who dealt with your order would quite easily have arranged a return and refund, it's no problem at all. Sounds like it's done now and you've made up your mind already anyway.

One way or another, we'll sort your issue out to a satisfactory conclusion, don't worry ;-)

Why would anyone want to use this kit when your eyeballs need to stay fixed to the screen.
Head look is for OR and thats an end to it. It's insane the lengths some folks go to for immersion.
Don't bust a gut in reply,,,just my opinion.

I did wonder about that, but I ordered one of the first lot made. It's surprisingly easy to use. It does sound weird to use, but it works.

You obviously haven't used one. I turn my physical head 25 degrees for 160 degree virtual head movement. Most of the time I move it less than 15% since I don't need to look back that far. But even at extremes it's no trouble to keep my eyes on the screen.

@Tox Laximus.

I had similar problems originally. The device changes com port and I had to install drivers for both because the device ID changed when the com port changed. It was so long ago now, I don't remember specifics but I think I pressed the button with device manager open and selected the new device in the few seconds that the new ID showed and installed the drivers.

My board was a pro micro board and didn't have signed win 8.1 drivers so I had to reboot into the safe mode that allows unsigned drivers before windows would accept them.

BTW. You seem totally unreasonable on this thread. First course of action should always be to contact the devs directly before spamming the forums. I've gotten outstanding support from the Devs in the past.

Right Pastie,

I've gone down the same procedure and mine actually does the same thing as yours after flashing and upon connecting the tracker to any USB. Once flashing I have to scan ports and then hit connect to tracker. Generally I find once the flashing is done that the tracker changes to a different com port which the GUI doesn't automatically pick up on so I have to scan and it sometimes takes a couple of attempts of hitting the connect button to start working.

But most importantly, when plugging the tracker in to a new USB slot, Windows should search for drivers and detect it as an EDTracker2. Do you actually see that happen?

Hi ZZR600,

Got home from work and opened up EdTracker GUI, inserted the cable and it came up with EDTracker2 - and installed the drivers. Then showed in EDtracker as Arduino Leonardo on Com 4
Did the flash on 9150, all ok, noticed the port had changed to Com 5 during the flash, but changed back to com 4 once complete, Scanned again then suddenly it worked!!! moved around a few times and the head moved around, put it back down and it became unresponsive again.

Not been able to get it running again since.
Tried a few more times on other USB ports on front and back of PC, but nothing.

How very odd! Sounds to me like if it stopped working when you put it down, it's a bad connection somewhere - either the cable, the connector or inside the device somewhere... I take it you got the old windows "bli-bloop" USB disconnection noise at the time, and the COM port has effectively disappeared. So it looks as good as unplugged from the PC perspective? Judging from post on previous page it does sound to me like the cable is faulty; sounds like Dor is sorting you out with a replacement anyway yes?

I was a bit like that before I used one but that was because I didnt know how it worked. In actual fact you don't actually take your eyes off the screen, you can set it so that rotating your head to look at the screen bezel equates to 120degree turn on screen. It gives you a real advantage when dog-fighting as you can easily look around you and bring your target to your eyes rather than searching for your enemy with your reticule. Its very intuitive once you are used to it.
